Safe Sport Best Practices

  • Mandatory Reporting Rule
  • REPORT TO CLUB: Issues related to Bullying (Peer to Peer & Adult to Peer), Parent Issues, and Violation of Team Rules/Code of Conduct should be directed to the Club's Head Coach or Lead Team Administrator.
  • REPORT TO SAFE SPORT or Safe Sport Coordinator Any issues related to Safe Sport (i.e. Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Harrassment, Sexual Explicit/Inappropriate Communication through Social media, etc)

These issues may also be brought to Louisiana Swimming Safe Sport Coordinator - Mandy Smith, to assist with direction and steps needed to be taken.

 

Any USA Swimming Member (swimmers, coaches, officials) can report anonymously, if they wish, through text messaging at 888-270-SWIM (7946) or ONLINE.

Effective January 1, 2022, the following individuals must be USA Non-Athlete Registered Members:
  • Adult employees of USA Swimming, Local Swimming Committees (LSCs) and member clubs;
  • Adults serving on the board of directors of USA Swimming, LSCs and member clubs;
  • Individuals in a position of oversight over the operations of a member club;
  • Adults with an ownership interest in a member club;
  • Referees, starters, administrative officials, chief judges, as well as stroke and turn judges; and
  • Other volunteers who interact directly and frequently with or have authority over athletes (as defined in the SafeSport Code for the Olympic and Paralympic Movement) as a regular part of their duties.
Note:  This does not apply to volunteers such as timers, marshals, computer operators, etc., who only have limited contact with athletes during a meet.
Meet Marshals are required to abide by USA Swimming's Meet Marshal Standards.
