Why BLUE Swim Academy for lessons for my child?

We offer an unmatched swim experience in the Lehigh Valley - featuring the smallest class sizes, the most affordable lesson rates, and access to a 12.5 foot deep pool for diving and depth comfort (especially for kids whose goal is to be on a competitive swim team). Our lessons program is designed to teach water safety skills and build up so the swimmers have an easy transition joining any swim team in the Lehigh Valley, NJ, and Pocono region.

When can I register my child for lessons?

As soon as our registration opens for the school year or summer session for lessons, you can register. Registrations stay open until 2-3 weeks before the end of the session. (ex. School year registration is open until beg/mid May; Summer registration is open until beg/mid July).

How/when can I withdraw my child from lessons?

You are able to stop your lessons at any point in the session. If ending at the end of the month, email the lessons director before the 1st of the month to stop the billing and if ending in the middle of the month, email before the 1st of the month to adjust the last month's tuition (ex. stopping lessons at the end/middle of November, email by Nov 30th to stop/adjust Dec 1st tuition payment). There are no credits or refunds once tuition is processed if you did not email before the 1st.

When is tuition charged?

Tuition is charged on the 1st for the number of classes scheduled in that month to the card on your account. We must have notification before the end of the last business day before the 1st to stop the tuition payment for lessons.

If we take a break, will we be able to have the same class time when we come back?

We'll do our best to get you your preferred day and time but there are no guarantees that the same class will still have an opening when you sign up again.

How will I know when lessons are canceled/closed?

The days when lessons will be closed are posted on our website under About Us, also on the lesson registration pages for the classes. Each month, the closure dates will be communicated in the monthly newsletter. These emails will come from [email protected]These closures will be prorated in the monthly tuition.

If we have to cancel lessons at the last minute due to pool issues, weather, staff coverage issues etc., we will communicate via email to inform everyone asap of the canceled lessons and will send a follow up email of the make-up class date once we communicate with our staff to schedule the date.

Can we request our instructor?

We will do our best to try to put your swimmer with their favorite instructor. If they are unavailable, we will try to find a similar match in instructor for your swimmer.

Do you teach adaptive swim lessons?

Yes! Every child deserves the chance to feel safe and confident in the water. Our Adaptive Swim Lessons program helps break down barriers by covering half the cost of 1:1 lessons for students who may need extra support. Families contribute the remaining half, allowing us to share the responsibility of making water safety accessible. Because we provide individualized instruction, we have limited spots in our program which fill quickly. Please email [email protected] for more information.

Does your program have changing rooms/showers?

We do not have any family changing rooms or showers. For lesson students who need assistance changing we have pop-up changing tents next to the stands. Our locker rooms are open to lesson students who do not need assistance changing. We do not allow any adults in our locker rooms per SafeSport for our USA Swimming team. There are no exceptions to this rule.

We do not allow deck changing in the stands. This makes an uncomfortable situation for the coaches, instructors, swim team members, and other lesson students and families all on the pool deck and in the stands as well as puts our swim teams Safe Sport certification at risk. The pop up changing tents are right next to the stands near the pool entrance/exit to make it convenient for our families to use.

Where is the bathroom?

There is a single toilet in the coaches bathroom that can be used by swimmers and their parents. This is the only bathroom available to lesson students who need assistance, and by staff members who are over 18 and can not use the locker room. There is to be no changing or showering in this bathroom. The changing tents are located on the other side of the stands.

What is the pool temperature?

Our pool is a competition pool so it is held between 79-81°. Most swimmers don't mind the temperature once they get in the water and are moving around but for our kids who have a hard time with the cold, we allow swim caps and wet suits to be worn in the water for lessons.

What does my child need to bring for lessons?

Swimmers should come in their swim suit and make sure to have a towel for when they are done. They are welcome to bring their own goggles. We just ask that they are goggles and not a mask that covers the nose so the swimmers are able to practice their breath control and nose bubbles.

What is your make-up policy?

We understand that sometimes things come up and a class may be missed. To keep scheduling fair and consistent for all families, our make-up policy is as follows:

1. 1 make-class per month - Each swimmer may schedule one (1) make-up class per month for a missed regularly scheduled lesson

2. The make-up classes must be used within the same month or a week into the new month if the missed class occurred in the last week of the previous month (ex. missed class on Sept 29th, the make up can be used until Oct 7th before it is forfeited/the Oct make up will be used).

3. Scheduling make-up classes are subject to availability and must be scheduled in advance.

4. No rescheduling make-up classes - Once a make-up class has been scheduled, it cannot be rescheduled for any reason. If you miss your scheduled make-up lesson, it will be forfeited.

5. Eligibility - Make-up classes are offered as a courtesy for our families because we understand that life happens. We will try our best to get you your preferred day/time for a make-up class but we can not guarantee that we will always be able to do so depending on the current enrollment in our lessons, available pool time/space, or preferred instructor availability.

If we have to cancel lessons for any reason (such as weather, maintenance, or unforeseen circumstances), we will provide available make-up class dates for that canceled lesson. We understand that our available pool/staff time doesn't always match up with everyone's schedules and apologize in advance. Please note that credits or refunds will not be issued for canceled classes; make-up opportunities will be the only option offered.

We appreciate everyone's understanding as this policy allows us to keep classes running smoothly and ensures that all swimmers have the opportunity to participate.
