Illinois YMCA Swimming - SC State Meet

It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the cancellation of the YMCA State meet at Lake Central High School in St. John Indiana. The Lake County Board of Heath has determined that it would not be in the best interest for all involved to hold the meet based on the current growing concerns of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The State committee explored all options available to be able to continue to run the meet, but we are strongly committed to the health and safety of our athletes, coaches, officials, and families and wanted to let you know that it was an extremely difficult decision to cancel the meet.

At this time, we are not planning to reschedule the meet, but to let all teams know that the opportunity is there for teams to have a time trial with only swimmers that were entered into the state meet, only if you feel this is in your team’s best interest and safety. These times can be submitted to the SWYMS database to be considered in the top ten and top twenty ranking.

We recognize that our swimmers worked hard all season and State is the celebration of all their efforts. We hope that our swimmers continue to work through the summer season so they can attend the Long Course State meet in July.

We would like to thank you for your support during this difficult time and continued support of Illinois YMCA swimming and the swimming communities in Illinois.

The Illinois YMCA Swimming Committee and the YMCA Districts were established with the purpose of governing YMCA competitive swimming in the State of Illinois as well as conducting YMCA Swimming Championships. These Championships are governed by the current National YMCA "Rules That Govern YMCA Competitive Sports," the Rules Governing Illinois YMCA Swimming Competition and, to the extent not inconsistent with the foregoing and current USA Swimming Technical Rules.
