The Farmingdale Aquatics offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Farmingdale Aquatics to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Our coaches are certified under USA Swimming guidelines and have over 50 years of combined coaching and swimming experience from learning how to swim, to competitive swimming at the collegiate level.

 

Swim Squads are:

Pre-team: - (practice 2x a week) geared for ages 5 and older. Must be able to stand in 3'6" of water and can swim freestyle. This team serves an an environment to ready children who may not already be strong swimmers, for competitive swimming.  Stressed at this level will be proper form and an understanding of how all the strokes are swum. In order to move into the Developmental program, all strokes must be legal with a proper dive from the starting blocks.

Developmental: (practice up to 5x a week) The requirements are to have the ability to swim proficiently and legally two laps (50 yards) of Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle. Swimmers should be able to complete a 200 yard freestyle swim without stopping or touching the bottom. This team is for children that have the basic skills that are necessary to compete. At this level, children will continue to refine on all their strokes , as well as, begin to learn proper pull outs and flip turns. Swimmers must attend at least 50% of scheduled practices a week and can start to compete meets throughout the season, upon their coaches approval. 

Developmental Plus Team: (Practice up to 6x a week) Requirements: Ability to swim proficiently and legally Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle. Swimmers must attend at least 60% practices a week and should be competing in 4 meets throughout the season. Practices will increase in yardage and interval training will be introduced to help with the speed work of all strokes. Turns will be perfected and more complex drills will be introduced. Swimmers must attend at least 60% practices a week. 

Intermediate: (Practice up to 6x a week) At this stage in the club swimmers should all be competing in 6 meets per season. Practices will increase in yardage, turns will be perfected and more complex drills will be introduced. Swimmers must attend at least 70% of scheduled practices per week and be able to make time intervals given by the coach. Swimmers are striving for the silver, JO, and Zone Championship meets.  

Junior: (practice up to 6x a week) This team is the advanced swimmer who demonstrates the ability and desire to make a strong commitment to competitive swimming.  There will be emphasis on correct stroke swimming for all four strokes along with speed and yard based training. Swimmers must attend at least 80% of scheduled practices a week and compete in 6 meets throughout the season, not including the Championship meets. 

Senior: (practice up to 6x a week) This team is for the serious dedicated swimmer who is already competing/looking to compete at the high school level and beyond.  Points emphasized at this level will be correct technique, speed training, endurance training, and limited strength training through the use of calisthenics and stretching. Swimmers must attend at least 80% of scheduled practices a week and compete in 6 meets throughout the season, not including the Championship meets.
