Assistant Coach: Leigh Jaschke

"Coach Bee" has been swimming since she was 8 and coaching and teaching in different capacities for over twenty years. She swam competitively for Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, where she qualified for the Canadian University Nationals and was captain of the women's team.  Her love of water and swim teams has led her to seek out coaching opportunities in Canada, Kenya, and now Vermont. Outside of coaching or swimming, Leigh designs training and works on programs focused on Children's Rights and healthy child development in the International Development and Humanitarian sectors.  She believes that swimming is a wonderful way to help kids become more resilient and experience joy in the water. Her favorite part of swimming and coaching is being part of a team.

Leigh holds a Master of International Education from the Graduate School for International Training in Vermont and spends a lot of time outside in South Burlington with her two kiddos, pup, and husband all of who love to swim (except the dog).

Assistant Coach: Sarah Barrett

Coach Sarah is very excited to return to the pool after a few years off-deck. Sarah swam from age 8-18 in New Hampshire before swimming in college at Fordham University. Though she eventually transferred to UVM and a different type of water sport (rowing), Sarah also discovered a love of open water swimming. Before returning to UVM for her current grad program, Sarah taught individualized and adaptive swim lessons for 8 years, was the Head Coach of the Jasper Valley Swim Team in NH for two summers, and served with the Peace Corps in Morocco as a Youth Development Specialist. The highlight of her time in Morocco was organizing a swim camp and drowning prevention program. Coach Sarah now swims with Edge Masters and is looking forward to working with the rest of the team!!

Assistant Coach: Julie Scholes

Coach Julie joined her neighborhood’s summer swim team as a 10-year-old and fell in love with the sport within days. She swam year-round through high school and coached her neighborhood team each summer, but decided to try out a new water sport, rowing, while at Bowdoin College. After graduating, Julie was delighted to get back into the sport of swimming as a coach while living in Montana before she moved to Burlington to begin medical school. Julie’s favorite part of coaching is helping swimmers recognize and take pride in their accomplishments in and out of the water. She hopes to have all her swimmers enjoy their time in the water as much as she does. Outside of swimming, Julie loves spending her time outside, hiking, skiing, or trail running.

Assistant Coach: Trevor Gould

Coach Trevor has been swimming competitively since he was eight years old on the Blue Tides Swim Team in Joliet, Illinois. He swam until he was seventeen when he began coaching. Currently, Trevor swims competitively with the University of Vermont Club Swim Team where he also a coach. Trevor’s love of swimming has also transpired into a love for triathlons. When Coach Trevor is not swimming, he is usually reading, running, or acting in a performance at the UVM theater department. Coach Trevor studies Biology and theater at the university of Vermont and hopes to attend medical school after graduating.

Coach Trevor’s favorite strokes to swim are butterfly and breaststroke and he loves to teach/coach both. Coach Trevor hopes to help build swimmer’s confidence both in and out of the water and maintain a positive attitude.

Growing up in England I graduated university with a degree in Exercise Science and Sporting Injuries. I have been a Personal Trainer with the Edge for 20 Years. For swimmers maintaining good strength will help improve your performance and help prevent injuries.

Both my sons have been part of the Edge swim team for years and I have spent many weekends around New England supporting their swim activities. In my spare time I am a big Patriots fan and play Rugby with Burlington.
