Group names and brief descriptions.
Red 2: (previously swimmers that swim in lanes 1, 2 in the first hour) Swimmers can complete at least a 25 of free and back to start. The objective of this group is to teach the basics of the 4 competitive strokes, turns and dives. Teaching the fundamentals of competitive swimming is stressed.
Red 1: (previously swimmers that swam in lane 3, 4 in the first hour) Swimmers have at least a basic ability to do all the competitive strokes. They may need refinement to make them all legal. This group will focus on teaching the fundamentals of competitive swimming, strokes, turns and dives. This group will also begin to learn how to do sets that use the pace clock.
Yellow 2: (previously swimmers that swam in lanes 5, 6 in the first hour) Swimmers should have basic ability to do all the competitive strokes. This group will focus on being able to do the skills of competitive swimming within swimming sets. This group will mix both technique and learning how to train like a competitive swimmer. Swimmers should be able to maintain pace and follow a set using a pace clock
Yellow 1: (previously swimmers that swam in the second hour) Same as Yellow 2 except that this group tends to be older.
Gold: (previously swimmers that did the 2 hours or swam in lanes 7, 8) Focus of the group is training to be a faster swimmer. Swimmers have the opportunity to do multiple 2-hour practices. Swimmers need to be able to do all 4 strokes legally and the endurance to complete a 2-hour practice.
