A competitive youth swim and diving team for the seacoast area of New Hampshire and southern Maine.

The Spring/Summer season is a one step process. 

 

* New swimmers to Otters need to send in a copy of their birth certificate or passport for proof of age. If you feel comfortable emailing a photo of the document, you can send to [email protected].

* New swimmers must also register with USA Swimming.

Spring/Summer Otter Season Details

SPRING session starts May : cost $TBD (6 weeks)

  • Practices
    • ​M-Th 6-8PM @ UNH Indoor Pool (practices move to UNH Outdoor once it opens)
      • ​See below for group practice times
    • After Memorial Day Wednesday practices move to the Jenny Thompson Pool in Dover 6-7:30 PM

SUMMER session starts June : cost $TBD (7 weeks)

    • M,T, Th 6-8PM at the UNH Outdoor pool

Group names and brief descriptions.

Red 2: (previously swimmers that swim in lanes 1, 2 in the first hour)

  • Swimmers can complete at least a 25 of free and back to start. 
  •  The objective of this group is to teach the basics of the 4 competitive strokes, turns and dives.  Teaching the fundamentals of competitive swimming is stressed.

Red 1:  (previously swimmers that swam in lane 3, 4 in the first hour)

  • Swimmers have at least a basic ability to do all the competitive strokes.  They may need refinement to make them all legal.  
  • This group will focus on teaching the fundamentals of competitive swimming, strokes, turns and dives. 
  •  This group will also begin to learn how to do sets that use the pace clock. 

Yellow 2:  (previously swimmers that swam in lanes 5, 6 in the first hour)

  • Swimmers should have basic ability to do all the competitive strokes.  
  • This group will focus on being able to do the skills of competitive swimming within swimming sets. 
  •  This group will mix both technique and learning how to train like a competitive swimmer. 
  •  Swimmers should be able to maintain pace and follow a set using a pace clock

Yellow 1:  (previously swimmers that swam in the second hour) Same as Yellow 2 except that this group tends to be older. 

Gold:  (previously swimmers that did the 2 hours or swam in lanes 7, 8)

  • Focus of the group is training to be a faster swimmer.  
  • Swimmers have the opportunity to do multiple 2-hour practices. 
  • Swimmers need to be able to do all 4 strokes legally and the endurance to complete a 2-hour practice.
