Coaches and Directors
Lou Petto started August 2024 as our new Senior Director of Competitive Aquatics. Lou has an extensive coaching background of 30+ years, leading high caliber swim teams and athletes from Upper Mainline YMCA, Ocean County YMCA and Greater Somerset County YMCA. Coach Lou has been on the coaching staff for numerous camps, national completions, competitions abroad, as well as the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
Coach Lou is a graduate of SUNY New Paltz. There he was inducted
into the SUNY New Paltz Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999 and
during his four-year career with the Hawks from 1991 to 1994, he
became the most decorated athlete ever to graduate from the
College. Petto was a two-time team captain, six-time
national champion and a 13-time NCAA All-American,
establishing himself as the best swimmer in program
history. Additionally, he never lost at a SUNYAC meet, earning
12 individual titles, was the James Fulton Award
Winner — given annually to a SUNYAC senior male swimmer
or diver who has had the most illustrious career —
and is still the only student-athlete in Hawks history to be a
four-time Floyd Patterson Male Athlete of the Year
recipient.
Ruby grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah where she was a competitive swimmer from age 6-17. She was a state level swimmer in both breaststroke and butterfly events. She also enjoyed playing water polo throughout highschool, earning a place on the All-American second team roster. She continued on to play water polo at the University of Utah.
Ruby coached for the HCY Stingrays from 2015-2020, coaching swimmers at all levels, and is very excited and honored to be back on deck!
Ruby has a passion for sport and mentoring the whole athlete. She believes swimming to be an incredible platform for kids to turn themselves into not just amazing athletes- but amazing people.
She is grateful to have watched her three children compete in the sport, and gain strong friendships along with achieving their goals since they joined the team in 2013. Swim team has a special place in their home and family.
Chris enters his 2nd second at the Hunterdon County YMCA, with a
primary focus on the Little Stingrays.
Chris’ prior coaching experience includes seven seasons at
the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA, with five years as Head Coach.
While at FSPY, Chris coached two Y National Champions, and one
National Record Holder. In his tenure, FSPY relays placed Top-Three
at Y Nationals eight times.
As a swimmer, Chris was an All American and Y National Finalist.
While at Bucknell University, Chris was a two time Captain, school
record holder, and Patriot League Champion.
Off the deck, Chris is the Assistant Commissioner of Operations for
the New Jersey Department of Transportation. He resides in East
Amwell with his wife Trish, son Cooper, and daughter June.
Alecia is originally from West Virginia. She began swimming competitively in high school as a freshman, where she swam varsity for the Preston High Knights swimming all four years and was team captain her senior year. She also swam in summer league for the Garrett County Manta Rays in Maryland. In college, she continued swimming for the Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks focusing on mid-distance events in backstroke and freestyle for two years.
Alecia initially joined the coaching staff of HCY in 2017. In 2019, she took a short break and is back on the coaching staff this year.
Outside of swimming, Alecia works for Icims, Inc. as a Legal Compliance Analyst. She lives in Flemington with her Husband, kids and dog, who she spends as much time with as possible!
Chris started his swimming career as an age group athlete with Somerset Valley YMCA and later moved to Berkeley Aquatic Club for his high school years where he trained under Jim Wood until he graduated in 2011. Chris was a US sectional level butterflyer and was state level in sprint freestyle.
He attended Drexel University for Film and Video and also worked as an intern for Swimming World Magazine producing online news shows and live streams for Swimming World Television.
Chris later moved back to NJ in 2017 to coach for Berkeley Aquatic Club until 2021. In February of 2021 he formed his own video production company, LiveSight Productions, to livestream swim meets and other events.

Keith has been coaching for 3 years at the Hunterdon YMCA. His primary focus is with our Senior groups.
Keith is originally from the Cleveland Ohio area. As a teen and into college he taught swimming and lifeguarding in the municipal pools and summer camp in Maine. He competed on the high school and college water polo teams and swam completely in college. As an adult Keith has competed in many triathlons and open water swimming events. He continues to swim regularly with USA Masters out of the Greater Somerset County YMCA.
In addition to coaching, Keith is married and has two very active teens taking part in sports outside of swimming. When he is not at the pool, Keith has a career in the pharmaceutical industry where he leads learning and leadership development for his organization.
