Coaches and Directors
Mook started his coaching career with the Dallas Aquatic Club in 1986 and was named the Head Coach of DAC in 1989. He became the Head Coach of the Dallas Mustangs in 1992, after DAC merged with the Mustang Swim Club. He is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, where he started age group swimming with the Cincinnati Marlins at age 6.
He was world ranked in 100 backstroke and 200 IM events, and was 5-time National Champion in the mid-1980s. He represented the United States in international competition every year from 1981 to 1988 and was a gold medalist as a member of the 1986 USA World Championship Team that competed in Madrid, Spain. He broke three national high school records while attending Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati - the 100 back his junior year, and the 100 back and 200 IM during his senior year.
Mook is a graduate of Southern Methodist University (SMU). As a member of the SMU Mustang swim team he achieved All-American honors and was named Captain of the team his Senior year. He swam on the SMU medley relay team that once held the American record and was the NCAA champion in the 100 back in 1986.
Mook was an Assistant Coach at SMU from 1988 - 1991. He was voted USA Swimming Southwestern Coach of the Year in 1989 and 1991 and USA Swimming North Texas Senior Coach of the Year in 1995 and 2000. He was recognized by the United States Olympic Committee as the Pentathlon National Coach of the Year for 2004. In 2007 he was selected as an assistant coach for the USA Swimming Junior National Team that competed in Hawaii. And in 2008, he was selected to the USA Junior National Coaching Staff for the the World Junior Championships in Monterrey, Mexico. Also in 2008, Mook led the Dallas Mustangs to the team championship at United States Swimming's Long Course Junior National Championships.
Doug Moyse came to the Dallas Mustangs in 1999. Prior to joining our team Doug was with the Tom Landry Sports Medicine and Research Center. As Aquatic Fitness Coordinator, he was in charge of a variety of aquatic programs and assisted with the coaching of the Masters Swim Program. Before joining the Landry Center, Doug was athletic and aquatics director at the Lincoln City Club and the Signature Athletic Club.
Prior to relocating to Dallas, the Louisville, Kentucky native was an age-group and strength coach for the Lakeside Swim Club. The strength and dry land programs developed for the national team by Doug had an impact - one of the national team members was "Madame Butterfly", Mary T. Meagher, former world record holder in the Women's 200 Meter Butterfly.
Doug has a Bachelors degree in Business from Wright State and a Masters degree in Sports Administration from Eastern Kentucky University.
He is part of a current FINA World Masters Record 200-Meter Free Relay (short course) record which has stood for over seven years. Coincidentally, Dallas Mustangs Head Coach Mook Rhodenbaugh is also on the relay.
Coach Mali Jones (pronounced like Molly) is the current coach of the Loos silver group. Her career began in 2007 as an assistant coach at a high school swim team in New Mexico. In 2011 she became head swim coach at a Title 1 high school as well as a Physical Education and Health teacher. It was there that she realized her passion for coaching and educating, pushing her students and swimmers to be the best that they can.
In 2018, Mali moved to Dallas to continue her career. In 2021, she joined the Dallas Mustangs. Now Coach Mali enjoys spending her afternoons at the pool with her beloved swimmers. She has an huge sweet tooth and enjoy it when presented with candy. Other than coaching swim, Mail has also coached volleyball, track, tennis, and snowboarding. Her number one goal, other than coaching and teaching, is to be an amazing mom to her son and be his number one fan. Her mission as a coach is to push her athletes to work hard and persevere with a positive, resilient attitude in and out of the pool: and to instill in them positive self- esteem.
I was born and grew up in Springboro, Ohio. I learned to swim when I was 4 years old at a local summer team then joined the Coffman Family YMCA club team in 5th grade. I continued swimming in college at Ashland University in northern Ohio in 2019 and rounded out my career in 2023. In the summer of 2023, I moved to Dallas to pursue a master's degree in business analytics at SMU. Upon graduating this past spring I decided to stay in Dallas and accepted a job here in the analytical field. After taking a year away from swimming I realized how much I missed it and cannot wait for the upcoming season with the Dallas Mustangs!
Coach Spencer started her swimming career as she swam out of the womb! Raised in Dallas, Texas by two swim coaches Spencer has knowledge of what it’s like to grow up swimming for the mustangs. Spencer grew up swimming for the mustangs and for summer leagues, along with coaching kids in the neighborhood. With her growing passion for the sport, Spencer went on to captain her high school team for three years and won numerous district and regional meets. Spencer has gone on to pursue dental hygiene but has missed coaching children and is looking forward to coach the bronze group.
Skyler Younkin is from Washington State, where he started swimming at 5 years old. He competed 11 years for the Tri-City Channel Cats. He also swam for Hanford high school, where he placed the top finish at State in the 100yd butterfly from 2017-2019.
He then went on to compete in college for Purdue University from 2019-2023, where he was a Big Ten finalist, Academic All-American in the 200yd butterfly, and Senior Nationals qualifier. Purdue is also where he began coaching at the Black and Gold swim camps every summer– this was where he realized that he had a passion for coaching.
After earning his degree in Business Management, Skyler moved to Dallas to continue his career in 2023. He is proud to be a coach for the Dallas Mustangs, and also works as an account manager for PepsiCo.
As a swimmer, Peggy held multiple Top 16 National Rankings while earning the added distinction of being a U.S. Nationals and Junior Nationals Qualifier, four-year Prep All-American and a Maryland State Swimming Record Holder while swimming for the Curl Swim Club. Her coaching background includes Age Group Coach for the Rockville Montgomery Swim Club in MD, Asst. Coach for Kenmont Country Club in MD, Founder and Coach for the Baylor Tom Landry Bear-a-Cudas and Asst. Coach for T Bar M Country Club in Dallas. Coach Peggy currently coaches with the Dallas Mustangs and is in her third year coaching for Bishop Lynch High School.
Tyler was born and raised in Dallas, where he attended Hillcrest High School. During his time there, he became the captain of the swimming team in his sophomore year. He began his coaching career in high school as a junior, where he discovered his passion for teaching and motivating students. Currently, he is a freshman in college with plans to pursue a career in physical therapy. In addition to his academic and athletic pursuits, he also has a passion for photography, which he practices in his spare time. His diverse experiences in sports, coaching, and photography bring a unique perspective to his role as a coach for the Dallas Mustangs.
Destine started swimming for the Dallas Mustangs at the age of 10 and swam for the national team all through High School. Attended Bishop Lynch High School where she was the back to back state champion in the 100 freestyle her Sophomoe and Junior year. Swam division 1 for Florida International University where she found her passion in coaching. She coached Northwood country club for 3 years, and then took her talents to the YMCA where she coached for another 3 years taking the Park South team all the way to state. She specializes in I.M. , sprint free and is also a part of the Dallas Masters team. She is very excited about coaching for her childhood team that shaped her into the best swimmer she could be!
Kendall had 8 years of competitive swim experience as freestyle and backstroke specialist. She is a recent graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. In her spare time she thrifts and take care of kids.
Connor grew up overseas in Tokyo, Japan, where he developed a strong passion for swimming, serving as team captain throughout all four years of high school competition. From 2022 to 2025, he competed for the SMU Men's Swim Team. He is now transitioning into a managerial role with the SMU swim program while beginning his new swim journey in coaching with the Dallas Mustangs. With a deep love for the sport and a commitment to developing young athletes, Connor is excited to help swimmers grow both in and out of the water.
