Financial statements, AGM May 14, upcoming meet

Sara Minogue
Our final meet of the season takes place May 10-12 at the beloved Ruth Inch Memorial Pool!

We're thrilled to be hosting swimmers from Hay River and Peace River.

The meet will run Friday afternoon 4-6:30, Saturday noon to late afternoon; and Sunday 6 am to mid-morning.

This year, we'll also host a barbecue on the pool patio after the races on Saturday afternoon, wrapping up by 6 pm.

A volunteer sign-up sheet has already been posted. Watch this space for more details (but let me know if you'd like to help with the barbecue: [email protected]).

Financial statements

Please keep an eye on your inbox for a note from our treasurer, Monte Kehler, who has been busy reconciling accounts up to 2022/2023.

In the next two weeks, Monte will be sharing statements with all families to settle: fundraising fees (owed or to be reimbursed backed by travel receipts); reimbursements for lost pool time in 2021/22 and 2022/23 due to covid and the strike; and any fees owing.

This comes after some financial catchup. Now that we have a treasurer, as well as an accounting agency that handles our books, we are actively seeking an apprentice who'd like to learn this role in order to ensure continuity for the club. Please get in touch if this appeals to you!

2022/2023 AGM

We'll hold our 2022/2023 annual general meeting on Tuesday, May 14 at 7 p.m. Find the agenda here and the minutes from our last AGM here.

The meeting will be in-person at the Co-op as well as virtual. Please RSVP if you plan to attend so we can make sure there's room. (We'll move to a larger venue if needed.)

The main purpose of this meeting is to approve belated financial statements from last year.

This meeting will also be an opportunity for all members to ask questions of our volunteer governance team and learn more about how to get involved.

We'll hold elections at our 2023/2024 AGM, to be held in June, at a date to be announced.

We are actively seeking a dedicated equipment manager, a social coordinator and a travel manager. If you have any interest in these roles, or just taking on a project, please get in touch.

This coming year will involve planning our move to new pool and the potential expansion for our club -- all great reasons to join our board!

Congrats!

Lastly, congratulations to all our polar pups, who had an amazing meet earlier this month, and to our older swimmers who coached, timed, marshalled and cheered. What a great example for our young swimmers!

Questions? Confusion? Just give me a call and I'll help find answers.
