Good luck to the 37 Seahawks competing in the first round of the OHSAA Championship Series! Tonight the Division 1 & Division 2 Boys kick off Sectionals & the Division 1 & 2 Girls will compete tomorrow. There are 4 Sectional locations in the Cincinnati area & CAC will be represented at all 4 locations throughout the weekend. Before the Super Bowl on Sunday our Red 1 & 2 swimmers competed in their own Super Bowl, the CAC Mini Meet. The Red groups showed how much they learned over the course of their season, tackling 30 new events and dropping 302 seconds over 133 swims. We also had 10 event wins, and 39 top 3 finishes! Congratulations to 3 Seahawks on their out of water accomplishments, Jack Shiveley, Evelyn Homm, and Brynn Matthews! Jack Shiveley had a taekwondo tournament over the weekend. In his group, he scored 4th in sparring, 3rd in forms, and 2nd in board breaking! Congratulations, Jack! Evelyn Homm and Brynn Matthews were Madiera’s January “It Starts with Me” Recipients! Over the weekend 54 Seahawks braved the cold on their way over to Mason for their February Invite. We were able to drop a combined 1184 seconds over 311 swims! With 38 of those being the first time swims. With championship season and taper approaching it was awesome to see 75% best times, and so many swimmers executing their gameplans and details exquisitely. The Mid State All Star Championship Meet is a meet for 14 & under swimmers who compete as members of their state. Unlike the summer Central Zone Championships, where any athlete qualified can compete, participation in the Mid State All Star Championships requires an application for consideration to compete. Each state/team is limited on the number of athletes that can enter each event. I hope everyone is having a great Holiday season so far! Over the weekend 27 Seahawks attended the Ohio virtual distance challenge we hosted at Cincinnati Country Day Highschool. Over the course of Saturday we dropped around 204 seconds, even though out of our 27 swims 19 of them were first times. So our 8 Seahawks who had times dropped an average of 25 and a half seconds! Over the weekend 49 Seahawks braved the cold temperatures and icy roads to race in Oxford Ohio at the MAKOs Holiday Classic. We dropped over 1100 seconds over 288 swims, with 11 of those swims being the first time the swimmer had attempted that event! On Saturday we earned 28 finals swims before the finals session on Sunday needed to be cancelled due to weather. Over the weekend 44 Seahawks traveled over to Oxford Ohio for the Lil Elves Invite! Over the course of the weekend we earned 128 best times, dropped over 368 seconds, and collected 11 new Jr Champ cuts! Over the weekend 30 Seahawks made the trip to Bowling Green for the Ohio Senior Swimming Invite to compete amongst 670 highschoolers. Thank you parents for everything you did to make the weekend great for our swimmers! Our swimmers had 95% season best times, meaning almost every single swim was the best so far this season! Overall the coaching staff also saw a lot of improvement in terms of owning their performances and staying positive regardless of the result.
