The Ohio State Diving Club had a successful weekend at the USA Diving Spring Region 2 and 4 Championships at University of Akron and Eastern Michigan University, respectively. The teams dominated in every category, with 19 divers qualifying for nationals based on their performance. In Akron, the team smashed the competition captured first place honors with 272 points while the second place finisher, Jersey Rebels, came in second with 137 points. The Ohio State Diving Club (OSDC) was invited to attend the inaugural Hobie International Invitational in December. Named after diving legend Hobie Billingsley, a former Olympic head coach and head coach for Indiana University, the meet featured national and international competitors, including 2008 Olympian Thomas Finchum and several members of the USA Diving National Training Center. Three Ohio State Diving Club seniors, Allie Alter, Alex Clay, and Hunter Atha, signed letters of intent to continue their diving careers at Louisiana State University, Stanford University, and the University of Wisconsin, respectively. Alter, a senior at New Albany High School, will attend Louisiana State University. She is a seven-time Junior National finalist who has been diving on a national level since age seven. Four-time Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis visited Columbus November 8 - 10 as part of USA Diving's Athlete Mentor Program. Louganis shared his experiences as an elite athlete, observed workouts, and offered advice/guidance to both Ohio State University divers and local divers on the Ohio State Diving Club team. Louganis won gold medals in both springboard and platform diving events at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games and won a silver medal at the 1976 Games. His 47 national titles are the most of any diver.

The Ohio State Diving Club was recently represented at the Junior Pan American Games held in Medellin, Columbia, September 8 - 11. Olivia Ball from Powell and Rachel Rubadue from Worthington qualified for the Junior Pan American Games. Justin Sochor was also named as a Pam American Coach. Ball was the lead American diver in the girls 16-18 three-meter event with a sixth place finish. Eighteen members of the Ohio State Diving Club qualified for the USA Diving Zone meets on July 8 - 10, at Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Moultrie, Georgia.
