Ohio State Swim Club Successful at Junior Olympics Championship

The Ohio State Swim Club had much success at the Junior Olympic Championships.

Highlights included:

  • qualifying 30 swimmers to the Junior Olympics.
  • placing seventh out of 33 teams in the standings, the highest finish from any Central Ohio team
  • Abby Stone winning the state championship in the 13-14 girls 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, and 200 IM
  • Abby Stone, Rachel Politi, Gabrielle Eismann and Emily Zawadzki capturing the state championship in the 200-free relay
  • Regan DeWitt, Abby Stone, Rachel Politi, and Emily Zawadzki grabbing first place honors in the 200-medley relay

In addition to these accomplishments, Abby Stone broke the Ohio state record in the 200 backstroke in the 13-14 year old girls division. Her time ranks her sixth in America in her age group. She qualified for both backstroke events for the Junior National Championships.
 
The Championships will take place August 8 – 12 in Palo Alto, California, at Stanford University.
