Officials Information
Officials are volunteers that have met standards set by Ohio & USA Swimming. Standards include completing a clinic held annually, taking an open book test, and apprenticing with a certified official. All USA-Swimming meets must have USA certified Officials on hand in order to run a sanctioned competition.
  • All officials must register through USA Swimming as a non-athlete. Please click here to review the membership requirement checklist.

Have you ever thought of earning certification to become a volunteer USA Swimming official? Now is a great time to consider starting (or continuing) the process. OSSC has produced a strong group  individuals who serve as officials at our home and many of our away meets over the years and we are looking to grow again.

Becoming a USA Swimming Official is a rewarding way to be a part of your child’s swimming experience and is one of the best places to be a part of the action of meets. Serving as a swimming official allows you to learn the rules of the sport and be engaged in a way that’s not possible from the stands. It also is a great way to make new parent friends and have fun.

Some folks think that you need to know a lot about swimming to become an official – that’s simply not true! You can learn what you need to know through clinics, online training and on deck apprenticeship sessions.

If you have an interest in becoming an official, please let me know right away by replying to this email. I’ll give you a call to let you know more or you can simply let me know that you are ready to start the process by attending one of the clinics offered below.
