Several Ohio State Swim Club Swimmers Crowned State Champions
The Ohio State Swim Club now boasts several state champion swimmers and state meet record holders after participating in the 2012 Junior Olympics at Miami University.
The girls 10 & under 200 free relay team, comprised of Jordan Aurnou-Rhees, Logan Lawhorn, Grace Poorbaugh, Kate Saczawa, set a new state meet record and is currently ranked third in the country. These four also captured the state championship in the 200-medley relay, an event in which they are also ranked second in the country.
Other state champions are:
10 & Under girls:
Kate Saczawa: 50 free, 50 back, 100 back
Logan Lawhorn: 100 free, 50 breast, 100 breast
11-12 girls:
Elise Barbour: 200 IM
13-14 boys:
Jack Saczawa, Keith Serafy, Austin Beam, Ian Hamilton: 200 medley relay, currently ranked 10th in the country; and 400 medley relay
The team overall placed fifth at the championships and were the highest-ranked team from Central Ohio. The Ohio State Swim Club is also ranked as one of the top 200 teams in America, the only Central Ohio team with this distinction.
Significant accomplishments by other swimmers included:
11-12 boys:
Jonathan Liu: Runner-up, 100 breaststroke; currently ranked 20th in the country
Jacob Eismann, Jonathan Liu, Michael Gutman, Andrew Shyu: Third place, 200 medley relay; currently ranked 17thin the country; and third place, 400 medley relay; currently ranked 20th in the country
