2015-16 OSSC Year-In-Review

The OSSC recently concluded its best season yet! We are now entering our eighth season, and have progressed every single season since our inaugural season in 2009-10. Our team’s competitive environment and constant desire for greatness make the OSSC a special place to be. Enjoy the fun facts below, but as always:

  1. Enjoy the journey!
  2. Remember that our team is about so much more than what happens in the water!

Team Accomplishments

USA Swimming’s Virtual Club Championships: We finished the season ranked 49th in the nation for the short course season (2nd in Ohio) and 56th in the nation for the long course season (3rd in Ohio).

USA Swimming’s Club Excellence Program: We were named a Silver Medal Club, which means we are one of the top-100 clubs in America! (And since we scored over 2000 more points this season, it is safe to assume that we’ll once again receive this accolade.) In its 14th year, the Club Excellence program identifies clubs that execute strong, well-rounded programs to produce elite 18-and-under athletes. The top 20 clubs earn Gold level ranking and those rated 21-100 are designated as Silver honorees. The next 100 clubs are recognized at the Bronze level.

USA Swimming’s Club Recognition Program: We are at Level 4 status, which is the highest level attainable! This program looks at four primary factors that help create great clubs: (1) Business & Organizational Success; (2) Parent & Volunteer Development; (3) Coach Development & Education; and (4) Athlete Development & Performance.

Championship Meets: We won the SC Senior Meet, SC Junior Olympics, LC Junior Olympics, & Summer Sectionals. We were runner-up at the Barbara Kay Mini-Champs. We placed 3rd at the LC Senior Meet and 5th at the Dolfin Junior Nationals & Open Water Champs. We’re also proud of all of our swimmers who represented Ohio Swimming at Quads and Zones, along with the D1 and D2 HS State Championships!

Relays: We finished the year with 18 of our 11 & over relays ranked top 20 in the country, with 7 of those ranked 1st in the country. And as we know, our 11-12 girls set 3 new NAG relay records. Congrats to all of these swimmers for stepping up to represent us!
