Back in August, I challenged our swimmers with some very specific goals for the 2016-17 season:

  1. Everything for the Team.  This goal is pretty self-explanatory. It basically means that our swimmers continue to do what they’ve been doing since our inception in 2009: put our team above themselves. In doing so, I reminded them that the OSSC would flourish and they would see even better results in their individual events. That is exactly what has happened! Our team has been ranked as high as 21st in the country this season, and while that ranking will change throughout the season, I am thrilled that our swimmers are laying the proper foundation and working to help us continue to improve on our state and national rankings.

  2. Place Top 10 at Junior Nationals. I quickly followed this up by saying, “I’m basing this goal on absolutely nothing.” We’ve never competed at JNATS as a team, so this was a new experience for us; however, since we were hosting the event, we thought that having our 24 qualifiers compete in the meet was a good idea. smiley Well, our men finished 10th, our women finished 12th, and we finished 13th in the combined team scoring. Not too shabby!

  3. Enjoy the journey! This quote encompasses what our team strives for every single day: "Our object is not to produce a champion, but to provide an atmosphere where champions are inevitable." This challenge is much bigger than swimming. It is a life goal for all of us!

You can find complete results and scores here.

Congrats to all of our swimmers and coaches for embracing the journey so far this season. Go Bucks!
