Congratulations to our 14 Nationals swimmers and 12 Junior Nationals swimmers! At Ohio State, we always have to be flexible since we host so many large events (NCAA Championships, Nationals, Junior Nationals, B1G Championships, USA Diving Nationals, Sectionals, water polo events, Special Olympics, etc.). Last year we hosted Junior Nationals, and this year we hosted Nationals, and we adapted well to both of these big events.
We wouldn’t typically attend Winter Nationals since we’d rather focus on JNATS as a team; however, we knew we were going to lose most of our practice time during Nationals so we entered our qualifiers, and the results were great! The OSSC finished as the National Runner-up in the Club (non-college) team standings to Nation’s Capital Swim Club. While there weren’t a lot of clubs at this meet since the time standards are strict and many clubs focused on JNATS instead, we’re still extremely proud to finish second at Nationals!
JNATS was also successful, but a bit more challenging due to sickness. Two of our 12 swimmers were unable to attend due to sickness and a few of our swimmers were fighting illness during the meet. That resulted in several individual and relay scratches, but we still finished 33rd in the combined team standings and had several best times throughout the week.
This three-week span of in-season meets (Senior Meet-Nationals-JNATS-Makos-Penguin Plunge) has been one of the most impressive stretches in our team’s history. We’re thrilled with our team results, and we’re very excited to see what our OSSC swimmers do in February and March!

Go Bucks!
