NST at 10 & Under State Champs

NEWPORT SWIM TEAM AT 10 & UNDER STATE CHAMPS                          2/19/24

Over the weekend of Feb. 17-18, three NST members, who previously had achieved qualifying times, took part in the 2024

Arena Short Course 10 & Under Championships held in Springfield, Oregon.  41 Oregon teams sent over 380 athletes to the championships.

No team scores where kept. Individually, 8 yr old Kenlie Ware is a state champion in the girls 8 & Under 50 free, winning with a 38.01. In addition, she had the following placings:

                        100 Free                      14th

50 Breaststroke           19^th

                        50 Back                       6^th

                        100 IM                         4^th

                        25 Fly                          7^th

Five of Kenlie’s races were also Personal Best times.

Olive Mitchell, 7, also competed in the girls 8 and Under division, finishing 30^th in the 25 Back and 46^th in the 50 Back, both PR’s.

Zoey Chappell, 10, had a very strong meet with 6 races, 6 PR’s. and top 6 places in all her races.

This coming weekend, Feb. 22-25 in Corvallis, Oregon Swimming will be holding the 11-14 state champs, and NST will be sending 6

qualifiers.
