Group Levels and Fees

There are five levels to our swim team.  It is common to have the younger age groups in the younger levels and the older age groups in the higher levels, but that is not always the case.  For example, a 12 year old with no experience may start in a lower level to build on skills. An experienced 12 year old most likely would be in the silver/gold group.  Group level placement and advancement is at the discretion of the coaches.  

• USA Swimming registration is required. Registration options: 

  • • Premium - Unrestricted Membership - $92 

      Flex - Restricted to 12 and Under - No more than two sanctioned meets - $30  

      Outreach - Unrestricted Discounted Membership for Qualified athletes (click here for Criteria) -  ($5 to USA Swimming)  

      Seasonal  - Restricted to meets at or below the LSC Championships - $50

Starting on September 1, 2024, there will only be one option called Seasonal Membership for the 2025 membership year, which will be valid for 150 days from the date of registration. Members are only allowed one seasonal membership in the same membership year.

Members can upgrade at anytime during the same membership year, prior to September 1 of that year. 

• ​20 hour volunteer requirement per year or opt out fee of $300. Unfulfilled hours will be billed at $15/hour. 
• We do not prorate.  Billing occurs every 1st of the month.  New swimmer(s) only: If a swimmer registers before the 20th of the month, full registration is due.  If swimmer registers after the 20th, then NST swim fees will be delayed to the next month.  
• All meets have fees (ex. surcharge, individual race, relay, and digital heat sheet fee).  These fees are normally charged to accounts before the meet- NST pays host for these fees before the meet.  There is a $15-$30 per swimmer coach travel fee for every away meet. 

Payment options: 

1. Payments are due by the 1st of the month and for cards that are enrolled there will be an auto payment on the 1st.  
2. $20 late fee will apply on the 5th of the month if payment hasn't been received.
3. You can pay by credit/debit card. There will be a 3% merchant fee + .35 transaction charge.  
4. You can set up a bank ACH on your account for a 1.25% fee.  
5. You can send in a check to NST, PO Box 451, Newport, OR 97365.
6. Monthly reoccuring charges will be applied on the 20th.

EQUIPMENT/SUIT NEEDS

Your swimmer is provided with a team swim cap and t-shirt. 

NST is sponsored by the swim brand Arena.  Swimmers are required to wear Arena brand suits for all competition swim meets along with an NST team cap. Arena is preferred for all equipment. A team fitting is held in the fall for team suits and team merchandise.  Suits can be ordered anytime during the year. 

SWIM MEET ATTIRE – Consistent team attire is and should be seen as a statement of pride and not a policy in and of itself. It is not about the clothes or the rule, it is about what statement NST is making with their appearance. NST is a representative of Newport when attending out-of-town meets, which we take very seriously. We believe there is a correlation between one’s commitment to wear the team attire and being a positive symbol for the team.

What your swimmer needs (Silver, Gold, & Senior require everything listed below-Bronze requirements in red). Equipment bags can be stored at the pool.:

Tech Suits-Are to be used only for championship level meets or at the coaches direction. Limiting the use of these suits greatly enhances their positive hydrodynamic effect for the athlete. Effective April 2019, tech suits may not be used by 12 & Under swimmers. Parents of 12 & Unders attending Championship meets should discuss suit options with the Head Coach.
