Newport Swim Team Action in Corvallis

NEWPORT SWIM TEAM IN ACTION IN CORVALLIS          3/11/24

Over the weekend (March 9 & 10), eleven Newport Swim Team members took part in the 2024 WL Construction CAT Spring Invite in Corvallis. NST was one of 10 teams in attendance, with three big Portland along with a team from Washington on deck.  NST took 8^th place with 560 points (Tualatin Hills SC with over 70 swimmers, won with 4160 points). All 11 NST swimmers scored team points with multiple top 10 finishes and numerous personal best times established (PR’s):

         Christian Beck, 11, set 2 PR’s out of his 2 races and took 10^th in the 50 Fly for 11-12 boys

         Zoey Chappell, 10, had an outstanding meet. Breaking her team record in the 9-10 girls 200 Backstroke, winning 2 events and taking 4              2^nd place ribbons. She was 6/6 for PR’s, and recorded 3 11 yr old B times

         Skyla Chen, 12, won 3 events and recorded 2 more top 5 finishes, she was 4/5 with PR’s and recorded a B time

         Ashley Conrad, 12, established 2 PR’s out of her 3 events and took 8^th place in the 50 Breaststroke.

         Pia Lihou, 17, took 2 2^nd place finishes.

         Daphne Grant, 13, was 4/4 with PR’s and a 5^th in the 200 Individual Medley

         Patrick Grant, 11, was 3/3 with PR’s and took 6^th in the 50 Free for 11-12 boys

         Hunter Grant, 8, was 1 for 2 with PR’s, won the 8 & Under 25 Free and took 3^rd in the 100 Free

         Levi Pettis, 11, had a very strong meet, recording 3 B times in the 500 Free, 100 Back & 200 Free.  He was 4/7 with PR’s, and had 7                 Top 10 finishes in the 11-12 boys.

         Allison Ware, 11, Also had a strong meet, and also had 7 Top 10 finishes while going 7/7 with the Personal Bests times. She also                       recorded 2 B times

         Kenlie Ware, 8, was 6/6 with the PR’s, along with 6 Top 3 finishes, winning the 25 Free and 25 Breast. She also recorded an aged up 9             yr old B time.
