Swim-a-Thon is here!
NST News 5/6/24:
For today's practice the locker rooms are closed due to the start of the maintenance. The restrooms in the Rec Center across from Room 117 (Hospitaltity Room) are available for changing. The Rec Center is closed and the Rec asks that the swimmers come directly back -no hanging out/walking around the Rec Center will be allowed. The family changing room on deck is available for restroom breaks.
Reminder no practice Tuesday and Wednesday this week due maintenance.

Swim-a-Thon
The Swim-a-Thon is this Saturday 5/11, 10 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Swimmers need to be prepapred to be in the water at 10:00.
Current fundraising is at $9,080!

Stroke and Turn Officials
We need stroke and turn officials and the training hours have been decreased! This is a great way to get involved. Officials are required for all club swim meets. Please let me know if you would like to learn more. How to Become an Official

AAA May Long Course Meet Update by Coach John
Newport Swim Team- IN ACTION 5/6/24
The Newport Swim Team opened their long course (50-meter pool) season at the AAA May LC Invit in Albany May 3-5.
15 Oregon teams took part in the meet, with NST sending 12 swimmers to compete. While only swimming with 4 boys, that group was able to take 9th place overall. 18 year olds Sam Postlewait and Jack Sappington won 5 events between them while 11 yr old Jay Eibner and 15 yr old Clyde Bretz also took top 5 placings to add to the boys team total.
The girls squad took 6th place behind Beaverton Area Aquatics out of Portland. 14 yr old Gwynn Postlwait and 10 Yr old Zoey Chappell each won 4 events with 18 Yr old Layla Bretz winning 2 races. 12 yr old Ashlyn Conrad posted 3 personal best times out of her 3 races.
Overall, the NST swimmers posted 32 personal best times and 32 Top 5 finishes for the meet. In addition, Zoey Chappell established 4 new qualifying (A) times for the long course state champs, while her teammates recorded 9 B times over the weekend. The names of the NST swimmers who took part in the meet included: Clyde & Layla Bretz, Zoey Chappell, Skyla Chen, Ashlyn Conrad, Jay Eibner, Pia Lihou, Hana Parker, Ruby Perucci, Gwynn & Sam Postlewait and Jack Sappington
NST is next in action May 17-19 at the Comfort Suites CAT Long Course Open in Corvallis. Go NST!!
