NST SWIMMERS COMPETE IN FOREST GROVE MEET
Newport Swim Team sent 8 swimmers to Forest Grove to compete in the FGSC Christmas Invite held Dec. 13- 15. A total of 11 Oregon swim clubs sent competitors to the meet, ranging in age from 7-18 years old. No team scores were kept. As in earlier this season, NST made their presence felt.
Individually:
Reign Berry, 7 – Swam 5 events in the 8 & Under Girls division recording 5 personal best times. Her best showing was 11th in the 25 Freestyle and 12th in the 25 Backstroke.
Zoey Chappell, 11 – Had another outstanding meet. She raced in 6 events, recorded 6 personal best times. She won 2 events in the 11-12 Girls division along with 3 2nd place finishes and a 3rd. She also recorded 3 Oregon Championship meet qualifying times.
Jahan Eibner, 15 – Won the 400 Individual Medley in the 15 & Over Boy division and a 2nd place in the 200 Breast. Out of three total races, he recorded 2 PR’s.
Jay Eibner, 11 – In the 11-12 Boys division, Jay swam 7 races with 4 personal best times, he won the 200 Breaststroke and finished no lower than 5th in all his races. To boot, he recorded an Oregon Championship Qualifying time in the 100 Backstroke.
Dylan Gibson, 13 – had an excellent meet, 7 races with 7 PR’s. Racing in the 13-14 Boys division, his best showing was a 13th in 200 Individual Medley and 14th in the 100 Butterfly.
Mariam Kimberly, 15 – Swim 3 events on Sunday, after racing Saturday with the NHS Cubs. Swim meet. She recorded 1 PR and placed 18th in the 15 & Over Girls division in both the 100 Butterfly and 200 Breaststroke.
Bradley Peterson, 8 – Swam in 2 events, recorded 1 PR and swimming with the big boys in the 12 & Under division, placed 37th in the 100 Free.
Slate Steenkolk, 16 – Competed in 6 events and recorded 5 PR’s, in the 15 and Over Boys division, he placed 8th in the 200 Breaststroke and 12th in the 200 IM.
