About Us

Founded in 2009 under the coaching of Erik Scalise, Northern Nevada Aquatics provides the opportunity for children and adults of all ages to train and compete in the water using state of the art techniques.

Erik is originally from Reno, Nevada and has been an active member of the northern Nevada swim community since 1979.  He attended University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he was an NCAA all American, and captain of the UNLV men's team in the 1997-1998 and 1998-1999 swim seasons. Additionally, he was co-Big West Conference swimmer of the year with swimming legend Jason Lesak and athlete of the year for UNLV in the 1996-1997 college sports season.  In 1999, he graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Managerial Finance and Biology.

After college, Erik continued to swim under Dave Hoover, head coach of Reno Aquatic Club, and went to graduate school at the University of Nevada, Reno.  In 2001, he graduated with a M.B.A. degree in Business Administration with a focus in finance.

Over his college and post college swimming career with U.S. Swimming, Erik qualified for four Olympic trials (1996, 2000, 2004, and 2008) and attended twenty-seven Nationals.  He has won high point at numerous meets, such as summer Sectionals in 2003, and been a two-time recipient of Pacific swimming's athlete of the year designation.

Currently, Erik swims with the Sierra Nevada Master's swim team and is a ten time national champion and six time Master's national record holder.  In 2001, he began his coaching career coaching Reno Aquatic Club and the local high school Bishop Manogue.  Erik coached Bishop Manogue for eight years, and then moved to Damonte Ranch High School and will be coaching his second season this year.  While coaching at Manogue and Damonte, Erik won four league championships and placed second at State.

Northern Nevada Aquatics is a swim team for athletes of all ages and ability levels. Most importantly, the team helps young adults improve their self esteem, fitness level, and have a fun time doing it.
