GROUP DESCRIPTIONS

 

Starfish: 1 on 1 instruction for beginners

The Starfish group is for 1 on 1 instruction to help get swimmers ready for swim team.  No minimum practice requirements and the typical class is 30 min long.  Also adaptive environment friendly.

 

Seahorses:  2 practices attended per week

The Seahorse group is for beginner swimmers.  The group focuses on stroke development and the fundamentals for swimming.   Northwest pool (up to 10 feet deep) as well as a tot pool are used.

 

Squids: 3-4 practices attended per week

The Squid practice group is a continuation of the Seahorse group.  Still for some beginner to intermediate swimmers.  This group introduces diving and swim sets to help further develop our young athletes.    Practices are 1 hour long.  For swimmers 10 and under.  

 

White: 3-5 practices attended per week

The White group is for the intermediate athlete.  Swimmers are introduced to interval training.  Swimmers will know all strokes by this group but continue to refine them.  Practices are at Northwest pool Monday-Friday and Saturday.  All practices are 1hour to 1hour 30 min.   Athletes in this group should be 7-12 years old.

 

Blue: 4-7 practices attended per week

The Blue group is for intermediate to advanced age group swimmers   Swimmers in this group actively participate in swim meets on a regular basis.  Advanced age group drills and training techniques are used on a regular basis.   Practices are typically 1hr 30min each.  Athletes in this group are typically 8-12 years old.

 

Black and Junior: 7 practices per week offered (11-14 years old)

The Black and Junior Groups serve two purposes.  The Black group serves as a pre-competitive group for older age group athletes that do not have much competition experience.  Junior group swimmers are competitive age group swimmers that maintain at least 6 practices per week and have Junior Olympic times.  The Junior groups swimmers are eligible for team travel, training trips, and team activities.  Practices are 1 hour 30min to 2hrs 30min.  Athletes are 11 to 14.

 

Pre Senior and Senior: 9 practices per week offered (14-19 years old)

The Senior Group is the most advanced practice swim group that we currently offer.  This group specializes in advanced athlete training.  Swimmers should be proficient in all strokes, able to do interval training, and compete in swim meets regularly.  Swimmers in this group also will be put on a weight program and lift weights up to 3 times per week.  Senior group athletes maintain at least 7 practices per week and are eligible for team travel and team travel activities.  Senior Group members also have at least 3 Senior 2 time standards.

The Pre Senior group is for the more mature swimmers that do not meet the time standards or practice requirements.   Athletes are 13 and up.

 

Masters:  7 practices per week offered 

For the athletes that would like to continue training after age group for competition or fitness.  Specializing in aerobic sets, this group is perfect for the former competitive swimmer.  Practices are Monday-Friday at Northwest 6:00pm-7:30pm as well as Saturday 10-12pm and Sunday at 10-12pm.  Athletes are 19 and over
