Notes from the City of Reno

Good Afternoon Swim Teams,

I just wanted to give you all an update regarding the equipment at Northwest Pool.  The two new pumps have been installed and are up and running.  We also finished the installation of new bulbs in the UV system and turned it back on this morning as well.  We should see an improvement of water and air quality in the pool over the next few days as everything gets back up to speed.

On that note, if anyone is curious to see the new setup, please talk to Lauren Kaz, our aquatics coordinator who is cc'd on this email, she can give you a quick tour of the pump room.  DO NOT enter the pump room on your own. That area is for employees only and if you do so, you will be asked to leave the facility as entering it is unsafe, no matter how comfortable you may be in a pump room.

We are looking forward to seeing the pool quality improve thanks to the new equipment. In our staff meeting today, the new focus we will be discussing during our in-services and guard meetings will be on professionalism and cleanliness of the facility over the remainder of the spring season.
We are hoping to open up Idlewild Pool to swim teams on May 18th

The city of Reno will be raising pool rental fees over the next four years to stay in line with the state of Nevada raising the minimum wage to 12 dollars per hour by the year 2024.
