How to Mark Your Swimmer's Arm:
Sunscreen First: Before warm-up and marking your arm, make sure your swimmer has sunscreen on. Let it dry.
- Find Heat Sheets: heat sheets are posted at every meet event. They include swimmers’ names, heat, distance, and event types (e.g., 50-yard freestyle).
- Use a Sharpie to Draw a Grid: Draw a grid in the middle of their forearm. Make sure it is where the swimmer can read it.
- Fill in the Grid with a Sharpie: Write the event number, heat #, lane #, and stroke or relay position within the grid. Ensure to write events in order, starting with the first at the top and so on.
- Sharpie can be removed by rubbing sunscreen on it after the meet.
