Chinook Aquatic Club & Safe Sport 2024-2025

Chinook Aquatic Club is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for its swimmers. USA Swimming has made enhancements to its Safe Sport policy and education requirements as a part of its continued commitment to safeguarding our athletes. USA Swimming created the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies (MAAPP) to set a baseline for acceptable safety standards that limit one-on-one interactions between adults and minor athletes.

In the spirit of our commitment to the safety of our swimmers, this coming year we will require that all swimmers go through our preseason Safesport training before entering the pool for their first practice with Chinook - stay tuned on the requirements this coming fall.

Full implementation of the Safe Sport Program involves six key components:

  • Policies and Guidelines
  • Screening and Selection
  • Training and Education
  • Monitoring and Supervision
  • Recognizing, Responding, and Reporting
  • Grassroots Engagement and Feedback

MAAPP applies to:

  • All USA Swimming non-athlete members and adult athlete members
  • Participating non-members (e.g., meet marshals, meet computer operators, etc.)
  • LSC and club adult staff and board members
  • Any other adult authorized to have regular contact with or authority over minor athletes
