2025 Swim Across America Event at Lake Sammamish!

At Chinook, we continue to review and evaluate new opportunities to take part in events that challenge and stretch their abilities as swimmers and find ways to expand their passion and awareness in the sport of swimming. Open water swimming is typically seen as a survival skill and often is not included in the offerings of swim lessons or other skilled based aquatic programming unless our swimmers first express interest in such activities as open water competitions, cause-based swim events (fundraisers), or events like triathlons.
In the 2025-26 season, Chinook is bringing open water swimming exposure to our swimmers as another avenue to promote safety, endurance, and skilled based swimming. We will be hosting periodic instruction-based camps that offer practice for our swimmers and then participating in the annual Swim Across America event in Lake Sammamish!

6:15 – 7:30 am: Swimmer Registration - Please be sure to bring your completed waiver form (neatly and legibly) to ensure a smooth registration process
6:20 – 6:40 am: Warm up, hydrate, meet your friends, take group photos
7:00 am: Mandatory Water Safety Volunteers briefing (Meet at Lake Sammamish Tibbetts Beach area)
7:20 am: Welcome and Why I Swim presentation
7:30 am Registration closes for all distances
7:40 am: Safety Briefing for all swimmers, all distances, Giant Group photo
8:00 am: Kids' Splash
8:20 am: Rolling Swim Start
10:20 am: 10-15 minute awards ceremony and celebration!
