IST Places 5th at Regionals
Sockeyes you guys had such a great regional meet with so many great performances at the meet by the team. Our swimmers stepped up to the challenge of racing the best swimmers in the Northwest Region for 4 days of competition. Issaquah brought 39 athletes to the meet in which there were 1400 athletes from 7 different LSC’s which include Alaska, Hawaii, Pacific Northwest, Oregon, Inland Empire, Montana and Snake River. Issaquah Swim Team finished in 5th place out of 130 teams that were present at the meet. There were 118 best times, 1 new regional swim, 12 new zone times and 3 new sr sectional times achieved at the meet. We also had 5 team records broken, 2 individual and 3 relay. Congratulations to Aimee Ellis and Marius Rackickas for winning the 1650 Free and 200 Fly respectively in their age group. Our 15-18 girls won the 400 Medley of Natalie Baron, Holly Smith, Natalie Sun and Izzy Gonzalez. We had individual 20 athletes and 17 relays that finished in the top 8 of their age group.
We hope the athletes enjoyed the meet as much as the coaches did. For many it was the finale of the short course season and they are already looking forward to the long course season we have another group of athletes getting ready to finish their short course season at the Divisional meet this weekend. The regional swimmers started the ball rolling and we want to see the rest of the team continue the trend this weekend at the Divisional meet. Let’s go Sockeyes finish strong this weekend.!!!!
