IST Athletes Named to 14&U Zones Team

Pacific Northwest Swimming has released the athlete roster for the upcoming 14&U Western Zones meet in Mt. Hood, OR, and IST is pleased to announce that three Sockeyes were named to the team.

Congratulations to TYLER LEWIS (10&U Boys), TERRY LEE (11-12 Boys), and CHARLES LEE (13-14 Boys) on their selection. They will be joined in Oregon by Coach Tim, who will serve as a member of the PNS Zones Team Coaching Staff.

14&U Zones operates differently than most meets. First, the participating teams are composed of various local swim committees (LSCs) rather than individual swim teams. Tyler, Terry, and Charles will compete as representatives of the Pacific Northwest Swimming LSC and not as Issaquah Swim Team Sockeyes. 

Second, each LSC may only send a limited number of athletes. Simply achieving the individual qualifying times is not enough to earn a spot on the team; instead, athletes must apply for one of those limited places. After reviewing applications, PNS awards roster positions based on factors such as the number of cut times each applicant has achieved and the overall quality of each swim as measured by Power Points. This means that Tyler, Terry, and Charles are three of the top male swimmers in our LSC for their respective age groups.

We commend Tyler, Terry, and Charles for their achievements in the pool, passing through the rigorous application and selection process, and earning the right to represent PNS in August. Even though they will compete under the PNS banner, we know they will serve as ambassadors of IST and Sockeye Spirit in the greater swimming community. We are proud of you!
