2019 Apple Capital Recap

IST Communications

Members of the Senior, Sockeye, and Surge Squads competed at the 2019 Apple Capital invitational in Wenatchee, WA the weekend of May 31-June 2nd. This meet represented the third long-course meet of the season and served as a great opportunity for swimmers to compete in new events or first-time swims as it did not require any previous racing experience or cut times. IST athletes achieved mulitple new best times and cut times over the course of the meet.

Our theme for this meet was “One Team Having FUN!” We wanted everyone to feel like one team: sitting as one team, cheering as one team, and playing as one team. While there may be events that not everyone can attend, we wanted to anchor our efforts on helping everyone feel like they BELONG. A lot is required of each individual in swimming, but the key to success in transitioning toward greatness resides in the level of commitment each individual makes to the idea of TEAM. Team spirit is infectious when we are racing or cheering on teammates. An encouraging word or reminder to have fun is sometimes all that is needed to give ourselves, or our teammates, that extra push to have a stellar performance and experience!

The 2019 Apple Capital was all about having fun! Between the amazing weather, the team events and dinners, coordinated activities, water gun fights, ice cream runs, and more, a good time was had by all. Swimmers enjoyed themselves both in and out of the pool and our community came together to support each other through our SOCKEYE CENTRAL canopy and gathering spot. All of these elements came together to help produce some fast swimming as well.

Let’s keep the fun times rolling as we continue through the summer. Congratulations to everyone on a wonderful meet!
