2019 SR Seattle Open Recap

IST Communications

Members of the Senior Squads competed at the 2019 Senior Seattle Open meet at Colman Pool in West Seattle July 11-13th. IST athletes achieved 43 best times, with 8 of those coming in first time swims, as well as multiple new Gold & Silver, Champs, and Zones cuts.

The Senior Seattle Open meet represented the final long course competition for our senior-level swimmers prior to their end-of-season championship meets. Competitively, coaches and athletes were looking for quality execution and aggressive racing. It was phenomenal to watch teammates working together to adapt to the weather and facility conditions, identify and own the controllables, let go of things that weren’t going to help them be successful, and push each other to perform at the best level possible.

Our meet theme for this meet was “FEARLESS TOGETHER!” This entailed being fearless in pursuit of goals, in racing, and testing the comfort zones of your level of effort. We can be fearless because we have the support of each other. No matter what happens, your teammates will support you, your coach will coach you, and your parents will love you. A part of our journey consists of testing our boundaries and doing so fearlessly.

Athletes from the Senior Squads will be back in action at the upcoming PNS Senior Long Course Championship meet as well as the Short Course Summer Divisionals championship meet July 25th-28th.

Congratulations to all of our athletes who participated in this meet, and keep up the hard work!
