Winter Challenge Recap
The Winter Challenge was held at Hazen High School on January 25th and 26th. Athletes in the Senior, Sockeye, and Surge programs competed in their first challenge meet of SC2. Sockeye swimmers embraced the challenge of swimming four events per day, they tackled longer races such as the 500 Freestyle and 200s of strokes, some of them for the first time!
IST brought over 200 swimmers to this meet and it was clear they showed up to race. IST swimmers achieved over 750 best times throughout the course of the weekend, including several new gold and silver qualifying times. A testament to our athletes hard work and dedication over winter break and into the new year. Way to go Sockeyes!

In addition to the boatload of new gold and silver times, Sadye Derstadt qualified for Age Group Zones in the 200 Freestyle. Nice job Sadye!

We also had an outstanding three IST records broken at this meet. Charles Lee broke the 13-14 100 IM team record, and Keoni Li broke both the 11-12 50 and 100 Freestyle team records. Congratulations Charles and Keoni!

The next meet for these training groups will be February Divisionals from February 28th-March 1st. We look forward to seeing you all back in action at the first championship meet of SC2. Keep up the great work, Sockeyes!
