101st Senior Seattle Open Meet Recap

101st SENIOR SEATTLE OPEN

On June 7th-9th, IST athletes and coaches traveled to the Colman Pool in West Seattle for the 101st Senior Seattle Open. This competition was ISTs fifth meet of the 2022 LC season and the first we have attended at Colman.

IST brought a contingent of 39 Senior athletes to this meet. This competition represented the last chance for most Senior athletes to achieve championship meet time standards. As we approach the end of the season, meets like these provide the opportunity to refine race details and incorporate adjustments from previous meets. IST athletes benefitted from facility familiarity after attending practices at Colman in the weeks leading up to the competition.

The bonds between our senior athletes appeared strong at this competition. All swimmers were promptly behind the blocks before warm-ups on each day. Athletes also enjoyed time with teammates in between races playing frisbee and watching whales swim by in the Puget Sound. We are incredibly lucky and grateful to have access to a facility such as Colman!

IST athletes achieved 62 best times, swam 35 first time events, and dropped a total of 275 seconds!
