2022 LC CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS RECAP

IST ended the 2022 Long Course season with a flurry of championship meets. Championship meets represent the culmination of months of work for our athletes. Athletes went into each meet feeling loose, confident, and ready to race. 

 

SENIOR CHAMPS

IST placed sixth overall at Senior Championships with a score of 418.5 points! 27 athletes contributed to this score. Charles Lee led all IST athletes with 50 individual points scored while setting three new individual team records in the 100BR, 200BR, and 200IM! Calliope Kim set a new individual team record in the 100BR!

14&U CHAMPS

IST placed sixth overall at LC 14&U Championships with a score of 1012 points! 58 athletes contributed to this score. Aaron Bell, Cole Canaday, Tyler Lewis, and Brett Wang broke three team relay records in the 200M, 400M, and 200FR! Aaron Bell broke two individual records in the 50 and 100FR!

WESTERN SENIOR ZONES

Coach Tim and 14 Senior Athletes traveled to Clovis, California for Western Senior Zones. The group successfully battled the heat while staying ready to race. This competition was Kyle Lewis' final meet with IST before going to college. Kyle made finals in the 50FR where he placed 33rd with a time of 24.65 and in the 100FL where placed 26th with a time of 57.85. IST also fielded several relay teams that swam during Finals:

  • Girls A 800FR* - Juliana Kampf, Chloe Dandeneau, Ruth Magnotti, Keaton Canaday

  • Girls A 400M - Chloe Dandeneau, Ava Arabshahi, Juliana Kampf, Keaton Canaday

FUTURES

Coach Matt traveled to Santa Clara, California for the 2022 Santa Clara Futures Championships. Charles Lee made finals in the 100BR where he placed 20th with a time of 1:05.98 and the 200BR where he placed 6th with a time of 2:22.62. Charles also competed in the 200IM. Sadye Derstadt competed in the 100BR, 100BK, and the 200BK where she made finals where she placed 30th with a time of 2:26.02. Calliope Kim competed in the 100BR, 200BR, and 50FR. Nathan Headon-Weeks competed in the 100BR, 200BR, and 50FR. 

 

 

WESTERN AGE GROUP ZONES

Coach Nate traveled to Elk Grove, California for the 2022 Western Age Group Zones Championships. IST athletes Aaron Bell, Cole Canaday, Madison Chan, Sadye Derstadt, Mira Guo, and Brett Wang were all selected by PNS to represent the LSC. All contributed to a 4th place finish for the LSC!
