Fall Distance Meet Recap
2022 FALL DISTANCE MEET
On November 13th, IST athletes and coaches traveled to Snohomish Aquatic Center for the 2022 IST Fall Distance Meet.
This competition represented the first time that most IST athletes swam the mile event. Some were participating in this event for the first time ever! For swimmers new to the event, the goal was to welcome the challenge of competing in the mile for the first time while practicing the mental focus required for distance freestyle events.
For swimmers who had done the race before, the goal was to improve the execution of our 1650 race strategy and demonstrate growth in the quality of the race (for example, consistent pacing, stroke maintenance, aggression, etc.)
50 IST athletes swam at this meet and excelled in the mile! In addition to competing, IST athletes also assisted in counting and timing for teammates in between races. IST parents showed up in force to volunteer as officials and timers. This support is absolutely crucial to our ability to host these swim meets. Thank you for the support!
Coach Amanda took some excellent pictures at the competition that are featured in this recap. You can find more pictures from this competition and other IST events here on our Instagram page.
