2023 Winter Challenge Meet Recap

2023 WINTER CHALLENGE RECAP

From January 28th-29th, 213 IST athletes traveled to Mt. Tahoma High School for the 2023 Winter Challenge meet. This competition was the first of our Short Course 2 meets for all Surge and Sockeye athletes. This was the first meet for Senior athletes who did not attend WA Open and the second for those who did.

Swimmers competed in events of 50, 100, 200, 400, and 500 yards while continuing to master race strategies for each. Athletes continued to exercise excellent meet habits such as: Checking in with their coaches before/after events, arriving with meet events already written on their arm (for those wishing to do so), heading to the blocks in a timely and prepared fashion, and showing good sportsmanship/being great teammates.

All athletes took advantage of being in the same place for the first time this season by participating in the team cheer together. This was a great demonstration of Sockeye spirit!
