Heritage Hills Recreation Club Inc (HHRC) is member-owned and managed by an elected board of members.

The club and pools were originally constructed in 1965 when the Heritage Hills neighborhood was being developed. In 1976, the club opened its membership to the public, and the members renamed it Heritage Hills Recreation Club Inc. Ever since, HHRC has been a family-oriented club, and the community feel with the surrounding trees gives the club a friendly and relaxing vibe.

We offer two pools. Our primary pool is 25 meters long and eight lanes wide. It also includes a roped learning area for young swimmers and a diving area with two springboards, including one of the only high diving boards in Chapel Hill. In addition, HHRC has a gated zero-entry baby pool area that includes a shelter and picnic tables. The baby pool is ideal for toddlers because of it's beach like walk-in entry and two splash fountains.

Over time, the club continued to expand. Tennis courts, a playground and basketball hoops were added. An additional amenity is our snack bar, Mr. Cool’s. Mr. Cool’s opened in the 1970s and sold snacks, drinks, and ice cream. Over time the menu has expanded and now includes simple lunch and dinner options.

Another great part of HHRC is the H3AC Hurricanes swim team. The swim team includes swimmers from Heritage Hills Recreation Club, Homestead Aquatic Center, and Westfall Pool. H3AC is a member of the Chapel Hill Summer Swim League. Meets begin in early June and end in mid-July. During the 2020 offseason, HHRC partnered with a local year-round swim team (NCAC) to install a heating system for our main pool. This makes HHRC one of the very few local clubs that has a heated outdoor pool.

HHRC enjoys giving back to the community and in 2017 became classified as a 501c3 organization. The club supports organizations such as Touch-a-Truck, Orange County Rape Crisis Center, and several local schools. If you are interested in supporting HHRC with a tax-deductible donation, please let us know.

Finally, thank you to all past, current, and future members... You are what makes HHRC so special!
