Welcome to the Larkey Sharks 🦈

We are a recreational swim team focused on fun, teamwork, and helping every swimmer achieve their personal best. While we are competitive, our priority is creating a positive, inclusive experience where swimmers of all abilities can grow and feel proud of their progress.

We welcome swimmers ages 4–18 (age 4 requires a coach’s assessment).  We're one of 60+ recreational teams in Contra Costa County and a member of the Walnut Creek Swim Conference.

Season Timeline

  • Practices begin: April 1st

  • Season ends: Late July

  • Walnut Creek Swim Conference Championship Meet: July 25-26, 2026

  • Qualifying swimmers advance to County Meet on August 1-2, 2026 

Swim Team Fees – 2026 Season

Ages 5–14

  • 1 swimmer: $400

  • 2 swimmers: $765

  • 3 swimmers: $1,130

  • 4+ swimmers: $1,495

Ages 15–18

  • Pool members: $150

  • Non-members (Splash Fee families): $250

👉 Families whose youngest swimmer is 15–18 have reduced volunteer requirements (see Parent Involvement section below).

Pool Membership Requirement 

All swim team families must be one of the following:

✅ Larkey Pool Members

You’re all set—continue to Swim Team Fees below.

💦 First-Year “Splash Fee” Families

  • Available only for first year swim team families 

  • $200 Splash Fee per family

  • Valid for one season only

  • Families must obtain a full pool membership in future seasons to remain on the team

⚠️ Important Capacity Notice

  • Swim team spots are limited by age group which may sell out and reach capacity. 

  • Current pool members receive priority registration opening on February 2, 2026.  General registration for new families will open on February 16, 2026.

👉 If you are not currently a pool member, we strongly encourage you to join the Larkey Pool waitlist as soon as possible. Pool membership is currently waitlisted.

Special Option: 15–18 Only Families

  • $100 Splash Fee (per family)

  • No pool membership required

  • Applies only if all swimmers in your family are age 15-18 

Parent Involvement 

The Larkey Sharks is a volunteer run team (coaches are the only paid staff). A successful season depends on parent participation.  What's required:

  • One job + one committee per family, per season

  • Jobs help run swim meets (timing, stroke & turn, set-up, concessions, etc.)

  • Committees support what makes Larkey special—social events, fundraising, spirit week, and more


Families whose youngest swimmer is in the 15–18 age group do not need to hold a season-long job or committee. They only work jobs when their swimmers attend major meets (City, Conference, Woodlands Invitational, County).

Required Forms & Registration Accuracy

Before any swimmer can enter the water, all registration forms, waivers, and agreements must be completed online.

⚠️ Please enter swimmer information carefully and accurately.

  • A Swimmer ID is generated during registration

  • This ID follows your swimmer throughout their swim career (including high school)

  • Birth certificates may be requested for verification

  • Errors or discrepancies may result in inelgibility or disqualification
