Our goal is to get every swimmer to improve throughout the season. The best way to get set for the season is to attend Time Trials. This way you can start "popping" your times during week one of dual meets.
A “pop” is an improvement in your time when compared to your previous best time for the same event during the same year. Thus, if you are swimming an event for the first time that season, you will not “pop”. Pops are an indication of each swimmer’s improvement. Swimmers should aim to achieve as many pops as possible during the season with the goal of swimming their fastest times during the City Meet and especially at the Conference Meet.
Pops will be tracked in a table at the pool that will be periodically updated throughout the season. There is a weekly prize table at practices for swimmers to collect a small prize for each pop they have acheived that week. Specially embroidered Pop Towels are also given at the end of season Awards Night to any swimmer with 15 or more total pops during the season.
