Note: Practice times subject to change. Head coach has discretion to make changes as necessary (ie., depending on size of team, etc.)
Swimming "up": All swimmers will swim and participate in age group that they are eligible for. The criteria for a swimmer to be able to swim "up" (or, to routinely practice with an older age group) is both objective and subjective, and includes the following: The swimmer must have made county in all five events; and the final decision will be made by the head coach and meet director, and will reflect what they believe is best for the individual swimmer, and the team as a whole.
Equipment needed by all swimmers for practice each day:
-
Swim Goggles (have back-ups too)
-
Fins (you can use this link to order from Amazon or shop in store locally at Elsmore, Sports Basement…) * Please note: anyone needing to borrow fins at any point from the limited stash at the Larkey pool (because they do not yet have, or forgot… theirs) need to plan to arrive to practice extra early to pull fins, so they are fully prepared to start practice on time with all of the required equipment. There is also no guarantee the pool will have a set of the correct size fins available.
-
Fitted Swim Team Appropriate Suit
(Sharks team branded suits are never required, but are nice to have especially when meets start later in May - if interested see ordering info below and note it will take time to ship/arrive)
-
Swimmers with longer hair will need to have it pulled back in a hair-band or swim cap
(Swim Caps are nice for all swimmers to have and to keep hair dry/head warm - the silicon vs. rubber type is recommended for comfort purposes)
-
Whatever your swimmer prefers to use to dry off/get warm after practice (towel and/or parka or warm coat...)
Other (good to have for practices) gear: a swim bag, water bottle, snack...
Larkey Sharks branded gear/spirit wear (especially great to have for the meets, but not required), and Larkey Sharks team branded swim gear from Elsmore, can be ordered here for interested families. Orders take time to fulfill, so plan ahead:
