Co Head Coach - Tommy Meriam

What’s up Seahorses! I’m Coach Tommy, and I’m super excited to be your head coach again this year along with Coach Sydney! This will be my 2nd year as head coach and 5th year coaching at Ygnacio. I will be graduating from SDSU this May! Some of my favorite things to do include, playing many sports, hanging out with my friends, and of course swimming. I’ve been swimming since I was 5 years old and my favorite strokes are free and fly. I can’t wait to watch everyone crush their goals, make new friends, and have a blast this summer. Gooooooooo Ygnacio!

Coach - McKenna Doggett

Hey Seahorses, I'm Coach McKenna and I am super excited to be returning to Ygnacio this summer. I'm going into my fifth year at Northeastern University studying Neuroscience in Boston. I'm already counting down the days until I can trade in my winter boots for my flip-flops and see you guys out on the pool deck! I've been swimming since I was 5 years old and joined Ygnacio back in 2018 (P.S. best decision EVER!). I couldn't ask for a better team and community to be surrounded by. I can't wait to see what this season brings and for yet another best summer ever! See you soon!!!

Coach - Andrew Hallett

Hey everybody, my name is Andrew Hallett, and I’m extremely excited to be coaching Ygnacio Wood this year! I swam with Y-Dub until I was 14, when I switched to training year-round with Orinda Aquatics. Over the years, I’ve achieved two number-one finishes at state, set multiple high school records, and earned the opportunity to continue swimming at the Division I level at UC Berkeley, where our team placed in the top three at the NCAA Championships. After I graduate, I want to give my skills and knowledge back to the greatest team that ever existed—Ygnacio Wood! 

Coach - Addison McCann

Hey Seahorses! My name is Addison McCann and I am beyond excited to be a coach this summer! I am a current freshman at Cal Poly Slo studying Environmental Science. I have been on YWST since I was 7 years old, and I’m so grateful for the family this team has given me. I can’t wait to be back on the pool deck and am so excited for this season! Goooo Ygnacio!!

Coach - Emma Meriam

Hey Seahorses! I’m Coach Emma and I’m so excited for my first year of being an assistant coach! I have been on Ygnacio since I was a 7/8 and fell in love with the team right away! Growing up, my favorite strokes have always been freestyle and butterfly. I am currently a sophomore at Cal Poly SLO and I’m so excited for this season and to watch everybody crush it in the pool!!

Coach - Kai Welsh

What’s up seahorses!! I’m excited to be back for another season at Ygnacio Wood and to be able to spend another Summer with my YWST family! For those who don’t know me, I have over 18 years of swim experience and I coached Ygnacio from 2020-2023, with my favorite strokes being Butterfly and Backstroke. I graduated from USD back in 2024 and have been working in finance since. This year I decided I was not yet done with Ygnacio, and am thrilled at the opportunity to help coach this team for one more Summer. See you all soon!

Swimmer Coach - Nevaeh Minglana

Hi Seahorses!! I’m Coach Nevaeh and I can’t wait for another awesome season! This is my second year swimmer coaching and I could not be more proud. I’m currently a freshman at Santa Barbara City College and competing on their swim team. I love Ygnacio with my whole heart and have been on this team since I was a 7/8! I’m so excited for this amazing summer with the best Seahorse family!
