The East Ridge Swim and Dive team placed 6th at the True Team State meet on Saturday night, from a 12th place wild card seed. Our Raptors capped off an ultra fast meet by outright winning the 400 Free Relay. Next week is a busy one with back to back meets; first at Irondale on Tuesday, and our last home meet versus Forest Lake on Wednesday. Go Raptors!! - Coach Jay
The East Ridge Swim and Dive Team defeated the always dangerous Stillwater Ponies last night in dramatic fashion, with a score of 98 to 86. Our Raptors collectively found another gear, sweeping all of the relays and winning the majority of remaining events, some with outstanding PR’s. The East Ridge Swim and Dive team took second place in True Team Sections meet in Hastings on Saturday, earning us a wild card spot at True Team State this Saturday at the U of M. Despite winning 8 of the 12 swimming events, and placing swimmers in the top 5 in the remaining events the Raptors were just 9 points shy of 1st place. The East Ridge Swim and Dive team defeated the exceptionally fast Mounds View Mustangs last night in dramatic fashion, with a score of 95 to 85. Despite pushing through extremely heavy training and a record breaking Woodbury meet just 2 days ago, our Raptor swimmers relied on their elite upper class men, deep bench and sharply executed relays to win the night. The East Ridge Swim and Dive team continued their conference winning streak by defeating their other intra-district rivals, Woodbury HS tonight 97 to 75, despite a quick turn around from Maroon and Gold and continued heavy sets 2-a-days training sessions. Our top seeded relays for the 200 and 400 Freestyle punctuated a strong varsity meet by breaking two long standing Woodbury High School pool records. The ERHS boys swim team had an amazing last week. On Saturday the 7th the Raptors won the Maroon Division of the Maroon & Gold Championship against 11 other teams for the second year in a row. There were great performances all around with outstanding performances by Neil Abrahamson placing 1st over all in the 100 Fly, Morgan Gillard with a 1st place effort in the 100 Freestyle, and two additional 1st place performances by the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. The East Ridge Swim and Dive team defeated their inter district rivals, Park HS last night 102 to 77. Despite resuming heavy training after the holiday break and a couple snow days, our Raptor swimmers relied on a deep bench to dominate the night. Our top seeded relays for the 200 Medley, 200 Freestyle and 400 Freestyle crushed the competition by 3, 8 and 30 seconds respectively.
