Woodcreek Aquatics

Water Polo • Swim • Dive

My name is Sierra Buell and I am the Head Swim Coach at Woodcreek H.S.

As an alumni of Woodcreek High School, I am very excited to be back on deck and helping the current athletes train and compete! As of 2024, I am the official Head and Varsity Swim Coach.

I competed in year-round swimming as a member of California Capital Aquatics from the age of 7 to the age of 18. During this time, I was able to represent CCA and Sierra Nevada Swimming as a member of multiple LSC Zone swim meets. I qualified for CA/NV Sectionals in 2015 and continued to swim at that level until July 2021.

One of my favorite memories of club swimming was training at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO when I was 13!

I was a four-year Section qualifier during my time at WHS, I was primarily swimming the 200 and 500 Freestyle races as well as the 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle relays. I was a member of the 2014 JV Girls team that won Sections, broke the 200 Medley Relay record (it’s still on the board ... for now!!) in 2016, won the Varsity 200 IM and was the runner-up in the 100 Breaststroke at SFL Champs in 2017, and was named the Varsity girls MVP in 2017.

I was a member of the California State University, Bakersfield Women’s swim team (2017-2021). I was a three-time WAC Championship qualifier (did not compete for 2021 due to COVID), and was a finalist in the 400IM with multiple 16th place finishes in the 1650 Freestyle. I graduated from CSUB with a B.S. in Biology. I have coached for CCA, Woodcreek Seawolves, and the Rocklin Swim Team. I will be returning to school to gain a single subject credential with the intention to teach high school Biology.

I enjoy coaching because it gives me the opportunity to give back to the community and team(s) that got me to the place I am currently. I hope that through my coaching, I am able to develop athletes into the best version of themselves and provide them with the skills they need to be successful not only in athletics but beyond.
