  1. 2/6 - swim season begins - first practice. (you can join late)
  2. 2/8 - Printable / Desktop Calendar (link) <-- athletes mark your calendar all dates! Warn your teachers.
  3. 2/8 - Subscribe to the Google WHS Swim Calendar (link)
  4. 2/8 - REQUIRED READING --> Parent/Athlete handbook is linked under "Swim + Dive" tab.
    1. It answers most process questions - please read.
    2. ​Absences are to be reported to coaches - NOT team parents nor your teammates. Report direct to coaches.
    3. Warn your teachers about Friday invite dates and "away" Wednesday meets. Prepare for success. Print out a schedule and hand it to them if that helps (many teachers really appreciate this gesture)

  9. 4/21 - CVC Championship: Our League Finals @ R.A.C. 
  10. SJS Trials: 5/3 Girls and 5/4 Boys (See SJS website "quick playoff guide" - PDF pg 4) in Elk Grove; Finals 5/5 in Elk Grove (Distric 56)
  11. 5/11-5/13: State Champs in Clovis
  12. End of Season Banquet May 18th (likely around 6pm in the school multi-purpose room)

Swim Cheat Sheet Items

  1. Woodcreek Invite is for everyone, NCSC is by qualification only, along with SJS Trials and State Championships.
  2. Volunteering opportunities will be going out the Sunday before host dates that week.
  3. Times could change on meets and invites - often things out of our control. TY for your understanding.
  4. Wear your black Nike polos on meet / invite days.
  5. When arrival time is stated it means "in the pool or ready to get in the pool" at the time stated.
  6. Always assume arrive at meets an hour before start of meet / event.
  7. With Meets and Invites - things can get scratched, changed, or things can move faster or slower. 
  8. New to the program? Coach D'Arienzo allows athletes to drop off their athletic bags before school (Room 608)

Swim Practice

📣 JV Practice END times after school (boys/girls)

345-5pm (2/6-2/10/23)
345-515pm (2/13-2/28)
345pm-530pm starting on 3/1/23

AFTER SCHOOL Varsity (non-4th period) - you may be asked to stay longer - talk to your coaches AND your parents.

Varsity 4th Period Practice - contact Coach D'Arienzo. 

If you ARE NOT able to make a practice - athletes are expected to relay to coaches directly NOT team parents.

Meets: Home + Away (NEW 3/5/23)

Home meets: when we are hosting Athletes are expected to hustle to the pool deck if they are not in Athletic PE to get changed and to help set up if any setup remains. They will be released early from the 4th period, typically around 2:20 PM they should be on deck no later than 2:40 and be ready to change quickly.

AWAY meets: release times will vary depending on the distance to the meet. Only when we travel to Yuba City/River Valley will a bus be provided. Athletes/parents are responsible for finding a ride or carpooling and getting to the meet on time. Arrival times for travel meets are 1 hour before start time. Dual meets start at 4PM in our league.

Team Suits and Gear

All Team Suit and Gear Orders are CLOSED (2/10/2023)

Need a black polo - Sew Cal has our file on their books. Located off Sierra College. They also have a lot of great gear to pair up with our Wolf Logo for embroidery. For questions - please reach out to Board Member, Andrea Carano (contact info on "Contact Our Team" page)

Gear and Swim Suit Orders - Page will remain active for those curious about what team suits were ordered.

Gear: Suit, Goggles, Water, Towel.

Nike Polos will be expected to be worn by athletes EVERY for every meet / game day at school.

#2 Divers ONLY

Diving 1st Practice is February 7th (2/7/23) and 2/9 @ Oakmont H.S. off Cirby Way from 430-6pm. Dryland conditioning. 

Parent Meeting for Divers Only is on {Monday, February 16th} at 430pm on MON 2/13/23

We have a few Woodcreek athletes that can share their experiences if you want to be connected. Anyone with a background in gymnastics, trampoline, dance, tricking, skateboarding, etc - may really enjoy diving!

With a smaller pool of divers it may be easier for some athletes to excel in diving - so don't miss this opportunity.

#3 Athletic Clearance (A.C.)

1. RETURNING WHS athletes: if you indicated back in Fall that you were playing swim, you SHOULD be cleared for Swim Season. There have been some rare occurrences where you may have to re-upload the FALL athletic clearance again for Swim. Example - we forgot to upload and specify water polo AND swim, so we had to re-upload the document. Athletic Clearance Link Here

2. NEW to WHS / or new to swim: USE THE AC FORM PROVIDED HERE or your it WILL BE REJECTED. 

Once A.C. is submitted - you then wait for the school nurse to clear (give them time to respond). AC has to be after May 15, 2022.

3. A.C. and proof of insurance need to be uploaded as a PDF. TIP: If you have a hard copy of your athletic clearance and athlete's medical card - here's how to scan and have it turned into a PDF with Apple Notes.

4. If the status of A.C. on Home Campus hasn't shifted from "Pending to Cleared" after three or four weekdays - follow up with Ms. Souza - [email protected] or (916) 771-6565 ext: 4015. Label your email clearly to swim and athletic clearance and your athlete's FULL name. She oversees all sports - so please be kind and helpful and please do not wait until the last minute to address. Your athlete cannot participate without this being cleared.

Aquatics Board

We have three or four open board positions needing to be filled and we will have a lot more at the end of the Swim season. It is imperative that we have some folks step up to help us with these missing roles. Many on our WAC board have senior athletes graduating Spring '23. You'll be directly influencing the change you want to see in our program. It's also helping ensure our athletes have the best high school experience possible in our Aquatics program. Help as little or as much as you want

Our league is CVC (Capital valley conference) league and we are the Sac-Joaquin Section (SJS)
