Woodcreek H.S. Water Polo starts back up - in early to mid-August.

  • JV is a no-cut sport. So it's easier to start right from the beginning to check it out, rather than come late.
  • It is an asset to have swim skills in water polo, but we welcome everyone - basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, soccer, any other sport experience will transfer well to water polo. We have had folks with no swim experience excel if they play other sports ... so don't let that deter you from trying out!
  • And you can't beat the Fall season cardio workout for off-season Spring and Winter sports. If you haven't heard - this is a great cross-training opportunity - an incredible core workout.
  • Get your athletic clearance done asap (link to form, how-to, troubleshooting, etc)

  • First Practices (click here)
  • Our LinkTr.ee will get you to almost all the information you need.

Coach D'Arienzo and Coach Carrigan are good points of contact for questions via email (or keep both of them on emails). If nobody responds to an email, it might have gone to spam, so follow up.

A great second stop is trying out Water Polo at one of our local water polo clubs.

Many of our coaches work out at Sacramento Water Polo club and a few of our athletes also play at American River Water Polo club (Rio Americano / ARC / Jesuit). Cal Republic WPC is also nearby and there's also Davis WPC.

Check out a Summer session (many start in early / mid-May) - most of these clubs will allow for you to try a water polo class or two for free. Many athletes are starting out for the first time with no experience - so don't let a lack of experience be the reason to not try something new. And it's also a great time to introduce younger kiddos to "Splashball" for younger athletes who are new to water polo (4th grade, etc)
