2025 Shark Pups Program

Calling all SHARK PUPS!!! Not quite ready for the swim team? A younger swimmer who cannot make it down the length of the pool? Not quite ready to compete? This is the program for you!
One on one instruction in a small group format for your swimmer for as many sessions as you can make. This will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Here are the details:
The Perfect Pup: Ages 4 – 6, who is somewhat water safe: i.e. not fearful of swimming, but can not quite make it down the pool on their own yet. (i.e. a little doggy paddle)
**If they can make it down the pool in some form or fashion either by themselves or with someone in with them even if the swimmer needs to stop and hold onto the lane line or the wall (but not holding on to or holding them up the entire time) – they are probably ready for the swim team and are too advanced for PUPS. Program Dates: Proposed dates are June 2 to June 27th depending on pool availability! UPDATED PRACTICE TIME 7:45-8:15 am Schedule is subject to change.
Practice Dates/Times: Practices are Monday-Friday. Race day is Friday, June 27th. This is a NOT to be missed event! There are 20 sessions in all but you are not required to go to every practice nor do you need to let anyone know; we will have the coaches at each session ready to teach your swimmer.
Activities: All Pups and their families are invited to participate in all Southshore Sharks Social Activities, to get a feel for our summer team, to enjoy the team community and just have a blast! In a typical season, social events include: Monday Donuts (every Monday), Team Picture/Pancake Breakfast, Movie Night, Dance & Fun Practice/Pups Race day, and the Awards Banquet! Restrictions: Swimmer falls outside of the age range. Pups will stay on the Pups program all season. Pups cannot graduate to the swim team mid-season.
Volunteering: We only ask that each family volunteer to help time their swimmer at the Pup RACES, where we will have all the Pups racing down the pool for prizes with the entire summer team cheering for them. This is truly a special experience for everyone. (Bring your video cameras!!!!)
Price: $250 per swimmer. Please know that 100% of this fee is going directly to the Coaches & Junior Coaches that will be working one-on-one with your kiddo(s).
Registration: Registration for pups will follow the same protocol as registration for the swim team. After registration fills up, you can email Brian Kempf at [email protected] to get on the waitlist. If you have any questions, please contact Tricia Schimberg.
* This program is designed for a specific segment/type & ages swimmer with a certain level of abilities. Coach Karen & a Board Member have the final say as to whether it is the right fit for your kiddo.
- If your kiddo can in fact make it across the pool, they may determine that the team is the best place for your swimmer and you will be asked to move them up accordingly - which will include all requirements to be part of the summer team.
- OR that Pup is too advanced and that other options may work better for your kiddo - i.e. private lessons and you will be refunded accordingly.
