Coaches and Directors
I have been coaching since 2008 and I have been with Core since day 1 of the program's existence. I was a D214 swimmer and then upon graduating college (where I played WaterPolo and Rugby) I went back and coached at my high school alma mater (both girls ‘swimming and boys’ water polo). During that time I also taught High School English and later was a department chair at a charter High School on the Southside of Chicago for the Academy Department under the College and Career umbrella. Upon moving back to the suburbs, I "retired" from teaching to raise my own kids but continued to coach which was also when I was approached to help start Core Aquatics. I began as an assistant coach and then took over as the Head Coach of Core in September of 2022. I am also Hersey High Schools Frosh/Soph Girls' Swim Coach and have been coaching Hersey’s team since 2017.
I love being able to teach and coach the sport that molded me into the person I am today. When not on deck I love spending time with my 3 kids (Parker, Tessa, and Bailey) and husband (Ryan), reading, crafting, and spending time with my friends.
Coach Zimmer has over 30 years of coaching experience – from early beginnings in summer league through club and Division 1 collegiate programs. He is a Hersey grad, former team record holder and Illinois state medalist, and current Hersey Boys Head Coach. His personal swimming experience led him to 2 bronze medals at the 1992 US Open, multiple Mid-American Conference championships while at the University of Toledo and ultimately competing at the US Olympic Trials in 2000. His professional career has always been involved in the sport and he was inducted to the Univ of Toledo Hall of Fame in 2022. He is the founder of the Core Aquatics program and seen the program develop from its modest roots to now cultivating champions at all levels.
My name is Erin Danielewicz, and I have been a lifelong swimmer and passionate student of the sport. After more than 15 years of competitive swimming—including collegiate, high school, club, and park district levels—I concluded my swimming career, but my love for the sport has never faded. Over the years, I have gained invaluable knowledge and experience that I am eager to share with others. I have had the opportunity to coach at various levels, allowing me to grow into a well-rounded and adaptable coach. With a deep passion for both teaching and swimming, I strive to create a fun, supportive environment where current and future swimmers can develop their skills and foster a lifelong love for the sport.

Not only do I coach for Core, but I am also the JV Coach for Hersey Girls Swimming. I love helping swimmers achieve success in the pool for themselves and for their team. I know the lessons my athletes learn in the water will help them succeed both in and out of the water.
During the day, I am an aid is the Life program at Hersey High School. When I am not on deck, I love spending time with my family, friends and my bulldog Betty.

I have been competitively swimming for 7 years. I am a member of the Hersey Girls Swim Team and swam for Core - Navy's squad. I specialize in the backstroke and enjoy the stroke primarily because I can breathe the whole time while swimming. It’s also the stroke where I feel my legs are more important than my arms. I have been coaching on Core for the last 3 years. I also teach and assume the roll of Lesson Coordinator for Core's Learn 2 Swim program. I enjoy coaching and working with young athletes because I like meeting new athletes and watching them grow as swimmers and people. Outside of the pool I enjoy reading and fishing.

I’ve been swimming for 11 years and swam four years at John Hersey High School. My favorite strokes are butterfly and backstroke and my favorite part of swimming is the team atmosphere and all the friends I’ve made while swimming. Outside of swimming I love to read, play waterpolo, and spend time with friends, family and my two cats!!
Lucie leads our Swim Team Prep program and also works with our Orange athletes.

I graduated from Rolling Meadows in 2016, where I played water polo for all 4 years. I then attended Illinois State University, and played for 2 more years.I began coaching for CORE in 2020, for water polo and most recently swimming as well. I also was the Head Coach of the Muskies Swim Team for one summer. I started the Boys Water Polo Program at Leyden High School before moving over to Boys Hersey Water Polo in 2024.
