It was a weekend of close meets, with three intra-divisional meets decided by 375 points or less, and four more meets decided by less than 250. Everyone loves swimming a close, competitive meet and it looks like we have some great ones coming up and down the board at divisionals. Because of a cancellation, only 11 dual meets were swam this weekend, and there are no plans to make up the canceled meet. Per the bylaws, all swimmers entered in the canceled meet will receive credit for one meet attended...
We're halfway through the 2023 dual meet season, and week 3 saw two league records fall in an intradivision meet in Blue division: Girls 13-14 50 Backstroke 28.90 Piedmont Tsunamis Alyssa Sagle Girls 9-10 100 Medley 1:10.31 Dominion Valley Sharks P Elam, H Sosinski, S Yelverton, K Alex In other close meets, Brookside upset Victory Lakes while swimming up a division, and Kingsbrooke came up just short of upsetting Wellington. On the "Computer Support" tab of the Computer reps can find the midseason Team Manager database, an excel spreadsheet top...
Despite a miserable early summer week that canceled practices for many teams, 3287 swimmers came out to PWSL meets for week 2. Four meets were within a 250 point margin, with three near upsets. The fourth was the big upset of the week, Meadowbrook swimming up two divisions to beat Wellington. No league records were set in week 2. Live results are available at pwswim.org for all the meets that have the ability to update. You might find it down on Saturday afternoons/evenings while I clean up the meet databases...
(Resend to correct typos) It was a beautiful morning to be at the pool in Prince William County for the opening of the 2023 PWSL summer swim season. Although week 1 doesn't see the league quite back to where we were in 2019, we've grown again from last season - and some anecdotes have me thinking that our teams are bigger than these week 1 numbers suggest: 2019 Week 1: 3570 swimmers, 9158 splashes, 4024 improvements from seed times 2021 Week 1: 3038 swimmers, 7550 splashes, 2697 improvements from seed...
My apologies for uploading the Divisional and end of season files so late; I was hit hard by COVID the Monday after Divisionals and had a hard time getting out of bed the following week. I wouldn't say I'm "normal" yet, but I'm getting there. Complete results for the divisional meets are available at www.pwswim.org. There's going to be a complete re-write of the site "behind the scenes" this off-season. You can also download a full results PDF here. All meet results this season are being sent to reachforthewall.org and...
All the dual meets are complete and preparations for this Saturday's PWSL divisional meets are well underway. If you haven't heard from your divisional meet hosts, please reach out to them immediately; divisional hosts with any questions about meet setup can reach out to John for help anytime. Note: One week 6 meet did not take place because no venue was available to the teams in an appropriate timeframe. After consulting with league officials, the two teams swam separately at their own pools, but not in a "virtual meet" format....
PWSL week 5 is in the books - looking over the summary sheet, we had just under 3600 swimmers in the water this weekend; that's the most this season and back to our numbers from the end of 2018, closing in on pre-pandemic 2019 numbers. Hopefully a good sign for growth in coming seasons. No league records were set this week; the same records file has been carried over to week 6 and is available to download inside the Computer support tab on the site. A reminder for computer reps...
22 out of 24 teams dodged the raindrops to complete their meets Saturday morning; we still have one meet outstanding, but we've been told results may take some extra time, so we're pushing the summary and Cyber meet for the 11 meets we do have. Check the "Computer Support" tab later in the week for an updated Summary Sheet and Cyber meet. Complete meet results and top times are available at the league's live results site, http://www.pwswim.org/ All meet results are also uploaded to Reach for the Wall. Please see...
PWSL Week 4 is not yet complete. Due to Saturday's weather, a venue was closed on Saturday and the two teams involved have rescheduled their meet to Monday night. The good news, all other 11 meets dodged the raindrops and completed their meets, even though there were a few delays and some canopies broken by the heavy overnight rains. Results for the other 11 meets and top times so far are available at the live results site, pwswim.org, which appears to be back to full functionality - THANK YOU to...
One PWSL record was broken this week: Piedmont Tsunamis Girls 13-14 200 Freestyle Relay 01:55.6 M Richardson, S Traister, K Crown, A Sagle We're halfway through the season - the midseason wrap-up files and databases will be available later this week to computer reps. Computer reps can also find the new PWSL records file for week 4 in the "Computer Support" tab inside the league website. Enjoy a weekend off. The pwswim.org live results site has been revived!
